Unsure if this is improving?! Has anyone experienced this?...

long story short-

After a bout of nasty colds that wouldn't shift, I ended up with ear pressure and a little pain (although the pain wasn't that bad and was on and off). I saw a doctor who said I had a double ear infection (redness in both ears as well as a swollen/bulging eardrum). a week of antibiotics later and the redness is gone but the ear drum is now 'sucked in' and the blocked ear feeling was still there. the doctor said my eustachian tube is still blocked but I need to give it more time. a couple of weeks later and here I am. over the last couple of days I have started to notice less of a blocked feeling-it came and went before so it was hard to say to start with whether it's a definite improvement but after a few days I think it is improved the only thing I have noticed is that since the blocked feeling eases off, the slight achey feeling in my ear has increased. I didn't know if maybe this is just because things are starting to open up. I would assume the ears wouldn't be getting less blocked if overall the ear problem is getting worse. is this maybe just a natural progression or does this happen with blocked eustachian tubes-in that it comes and goes and maybe it's not improving any input appreciated!

I'm using flixonase at the moment and also have used a few days of sudafex decongestant tablets. overall the blockage in my ears seems to be better the last few days so I'm hoping that lasts and my nose was stuffy but that went just over a week ago. I am still getting a blocked feeling on and off though as well as neck tension when it flares up and pain on and off which until the last couple of days hadn't been too bad since the ear infection cleared up weeks ago. I think overall I am a bit better but I cant be sure and I keep thinking maybe that's wishful thinking! how long have you had yours for?

Unfortunately after a few better days I seem to be worse again 😦 the neck and shoulder tension I'm getting seem to be related as they both get worse at the same time but I'm not sure if the neck tension causes the ear problems or the ear problems cause the neck tension. I've read a few things recently about how anxiety ca prolonging g the problem because the tension in the neck muscles causes pressure on the tubes making it harder for them to open. I do suffer with health anxiety and this has made me particularly stressed so I wonder it it started with an ear infection and now the anxiety and tension is stopping it from clearing. do you also get any neck related symptoms? a few people had said they do but I'm not sure how common that is. x

    Hi Gem

Your issues seem very similar to what im currently experiencing. Abad run with back to back viruses and tonsilitis has left me with left sided ear fullness and pain. Doc seems to think eustachian tube dysfunction or glue ear. The pain comes and goes through the day mainly later in the day. I have days when i think im improving then it will get worse again. Its been about 6 weeks since it first started and a little over a week since the symptos of the last virus have gone. Please can you let me know what happened with yours. Are you better now? What did you do? I would appreciate a response very much.

    Thank you

Have you seen general physician or an ENT? If you haven't seen an ear specialist. I recommend you to see one. They will better understand your complication.
