unsure what is going on

At the end of august I spent 2 weeks in hospital and was very poorly and did a course of prednisalone which helped.  Docs said I had crohns after finding inflamation in my bowel. Went to a follow on appointment and was told he couldn't be sure if it was or wasnt crohns. Ever since then ive had cramps constapation dihorrea mouth ulcers sore red eyes joint pain skin conditions on and off this is 80% of the time. Ive had very few good days.  Due to go back to hospital in march for another appointment as my gp has referred me back again. Would you guys say i have crohns? I just want answers either way. Any advice would be welcomed.

Hi kris35323 sorry you have been feeling so unwell but it does sound like you have Crohns. It's an awful condition but I must say knowing definitely what was wrong and what I was dealing with made me feel more positive. There are lots of treatments out there some work some don't and everyone is different. I found avoiding stress, keeping fibre in my diet down to a low level and no alcohol really helped. I ended up having surgery which has made a difference but it's a last resort. Ask for a colonoscopy to give a definite diagnosis and take it from there. Good luck and try to stay positive there is a lot of helpful advice from other sufferers on this site.

Thanks for reply I have already had colonoscopy which showed inflamation of the small bowel. The majortiy of the time I am fine but I can still feel a deep pain in my tummy. Lately ive been getting really bad cramps after having dairy so im guessing thats my trigger.

I switched to soya milk and don't have any dairy except hard cheese.  I also avoid fatty foods. Your mouth ulcers and sore eyes do sound like an auto immune problem.

That's pretty rubbish! It took a year for me to get diagnosed and that was because I ended up in hospital! At first they ruled out CD because I didn't have ulceration so they said it was IBS that was dairy triggered, like a lactose intolerance. A further few tests showed severe disease throughout my intestines and so they explained it all and immediately I felt better. Just knowing what I was dealing with made me feel like I had control.

I've found with some things like dairy, I have a small amount very rarely as a treat and I'm not too bad on that. Other things I have completely removed from my diet. Try keeping a log on your moods, habits, eating, drinking, sleeping, d&v. It might help you to see a pattern. If you are having lots of bad days, or find you pass a lot of blood then go to A&E. Best of luck and I hope you get a diagnosis and treatment asap.

Thanks for reply. Went to gp the other day and was told that he didnt think it was CD. Ive been feeling fairly tiered this week and have had really bad pains in my joints and pains in my abdomen I havent had any d and v thou but have felt nausea and sicky. They have decided to do some blood tests thou next week. Its just so frustrating as my tummy hardly ever feels normal there is always pain and discomfort of some sort and it just makes me feel crappy as I dont know what it is. Roll on the 11th of march when I see the GI and hoping my bloods provide some answers too.

That's a long time to wait, I'd get back on to your gp as they might be able to give you something. At first I had domperidome which is am anti sickness tablet and I drank warm lemonade which is surprisingly good! I'm not a doctor or anything I can only share what worked for me and it's horrible being run down tired and uncomfortable. Rest as much as you can and try to get fresh air as being stuck inside won't help. Let us know how you get on! We're all about to chat smile
