Unwell for 6 months

Hi all I could use some advice. I’m a 27 year old male. Last January I was told I had Glandular Fever. For the past 6 months I've been feeling pretty crap. Some days I'm fine and other days I have flu like symptoms. Well 2 weeks ago I had enough and went to doctor again. They ran bloods tests and GF came back negative. My Creatine Kinase levels were very high but that was down to doing weights. Since that test I've had another for my CK levels and they are normal again. Now I have to do a 25-Hydroxy Vitamin D blood test tomorrow. Doctor thinks it may be an issue with my vitamin D count.

My left Lymph Node on my groin area is sore, so is my left ankle and both my knees. I keep getting constant headaches the last 2 weeks again. I basically feel like I'm getting GF all over again. Any ideas on what this might be? Thanks

Low vitamin D can cause osteomalacia - softening of the bones and causing bone ache and joint pain (your knee and ankle?) It also comes with a crushing dose of fatigue and can cause muscle weakness, soreness, feeling depressed and run down.

Wait until you get the Vitamin D count back, and if it is low, the doc will probably prescribe you a high dose (~50,000IU) vitamin D weekly for 8-12 weeks to get your levels back up and rebuild any skeletal loss.

    All best wishes,

    :-)

Thanks Jaybelle, hopefully its a vitamin D issue because I'm losing my mind biggrin At least if I know what it is I can deal with it. It's the not knowing that is the killer!

Sweetheart, I didn't get a diagnosis for 10 yrs+, so if you get one within six months you'll be doing well! We're lucky the docs have been told to look for this now. Unfortunately, they are not yet experienced in how debilitating the symptoms can be. Take it easy and look after yourself.

Hi Aidan so sorry, you need to ask your GP to do bloods for inflamitory markers and ANA

Thanks Pam. I shall say that to the doctor when I go back. Do you think it is possible to get a false negative for glandular fever? Because I basically feel the exact same as I did back in January when I first had it, except for this lump on the upper left side of my groin area under the skin. That area can be quite painful at times and may be causing this constant headache i've had for nearly a week now.

Well just out of the doctor again and all my bloods are perfectly fine. He said that what I'm describing is Glad Fever again. He said you can still have it even if it doesnt show on a blood test. He had it for a year himself he said.
