Update...

Came home last night, was too groggy to log on or do anything! I had capsular release surgery and they had to shave a little spur of bone off too. Considering all that they did to me I'm surprisingly not in too much pain. I have lots of gentle exercises to do and must ice every two hours. Already had a phone call this morning from the physio to make sure I'm doing that!

Thanks for everyone's help, advise and best wishes. This site really is invaluable to us all!

Hope everyone is having an ok day! Xx

    Hi Seretta,

Glad you are safe and well.  Pain might kick in later but in my experience no where near as awful as FS.

I thought I would never be able to do even some of the simple exercises but gradually day by day you get stronger... just remember that your shoulder is now free and can actually move, even though you will be scared to move it!

    Have a good sleep xxx

      Hi Cheryl,

thanks for for the support, it is so appreciated. The exercises are going ok at the moment, when I'm doing the forward flexation, with my hands on the table, I can step backwards enough to get my arm in line with my head! Incredible!!

I'm aware that as my nerve block wears off properly that will hurt more and I may not get as much rotation but right now I'm counting every blessing!!

Hope pe you're doing ok today. Xx

Hey Kerri, hanks for thinking of me! Day 5, I changed my dressing today and was pleased to see only two entry sites and things look like they're healing well though I'm very bruised.

Ive been very sore today and had lots of tingling down my arm, not pins and needles exactly but a strange tingle. I'm also not sleeping tonight, it's 1.10 am here and I'm wide awake because of this tingle! I went out today with my daughters so maybe I've done a bit too much.

      how are you doing? Xx

Oh no, nothing worse than watching the clock tick the hours away when you should be sleeping. I'm at day 10 today. I've had a shower and feel exhausted already 😩. I only took my dressings off in the shower this morning, yep still a lot of bruising but healing ok. I still get terrible aching in my shoulder, but I see the surgeon for checkup on Thursday so I'm looking forward to that, because I don't know what I should and shouldn't be feeling. Maybe the aching is part of the healing process, I had a full thickness tear in rotator cuff repair. When do you see your doc for follow up app?

I hate not sleeping but at least I'm getting lots of reading done! I am very achy too and my elbow and wrist ache again today, that feels like a backward step but, yes, I assume it's all to do with the healing. It sounds like yours was quite a major op, I feel lucky they didn't find any tears. Your doctor Will know if you're at the stage you should be, I'm sure you're doing really well, it's just hard to know isn't it? I'm not seeing my surgeon for a couple of weeks yet but have my first physio appointment on Thursday which I'm dreading! My exercises are going well I just ache a lot in between.

What kind of exercises do you have to do?

Hope you have a good day, get some rest, showers are hard work! 😳😴 xx

Yep I'm always exhausted after the shower routine 😊.

im in a sling for 6 weeks. Not sure when exercises start, guess my surgeon will tell me on Thursday. My op was only keyhole, I have 3 tidy little nicks where the instruments when in, and I had to have the tendon re attached to the bone, hence sling for 6 weeks.

hope you get some sleep. I still sleep every night in my recliner chair....it is SO comfortable. My friend that had same op as me said she slept in her recliner for 3 weeks 😊
