IM HOME!!!!!

Left hospital after lunch time.....they have my pain under control and have gone through meds with me.

Im not going to lie and say I'm pain free, cause I'm not......but it's more like a deep deep ache that flares if you twist, jar or bend over. BUT......with the meds it's bearable and I certainly didn't expect to be pain free that's for sure. I'm icing as much as possible to keep any swelling down and I'm in this sling for 6 weeks. At day 5 im allowed to take the sling off for a shower, so it's sponge baths for now 🛁. My meds are still 2 Panadol 4 hourly, 2 Endone 4 hourly 1X20mg Targin at bedtime and 2X25mg Voltarin per day for inflammation. Sending hubby out shortly to get a few V pillows....we call them boomerang pillows here in Oz. Thanks again for all your support. I will keep the updates going for those of you that are heading toward ops, it's nice to know what to expect.....I know some of you have definately clued me up so I knew what to expect 😘❌❌❌❌❌

How lovely to 'hear' you so upbeat. You be a good girl though, 6 weeks in a sling seems OK now but it gets hard work by week 4, I know! Big hugs. xx

Oh Maude....it's an act....I just can't get comfortable. It's actually my collar bone that is aching the most at the moment. But it could be a whole lot worse and I am telling myself to SUCK IT UP.

Im hearing you about that sling......it's irritating me already and I'm only roughly 28 hours post op.

its sweaty which makes my arm itchy, but I cant reach where it's itchy without slightly moving my arm and that Hurts.......GOD I'm a whinger. I new it would be bloody uncomfortable at this point....SO why am I whinging???? Just ignore me....HUH 😥!!!

Oh....all my whinging....I forgot to say....I will be following my instructions to the letter 😀, and my sling....hated as it will be....will be cradling my arm for a full 6 weeks....lol

Awww Kerri so pleased for you smile

I love my "boomerang" pillow lol - make sure you put pillows behind it first then the boomerang & then a couple more on top sounds mad but that worked for me - play around with it to find the best position for you.

I wish I had found this site before my op - everyone on here has been a lifeline smile

and have given soooo much support & help.

Have a restful w/e Kerrie, gentle hugs & loves xxx

Thanks hunny, looking forward to my own bed tonight, I've got my meds all lined up ready for during the night. Last night I just pressed the buzzer and the nurse bought them in. Tonight I'll have to medicate myself and write them down or I won't know where I'm at....lol

Got all my pillows ready and it's almost beddy byes time over here 😀

    Hi KERRI

welcome home! Glad to hear that everything went well with your surgery. I was just wondering what you had done to your shoulder if you don't mind me asking. I'm interested cos you say that you have to wear the sling for 6 weeks. I've had surgery on mine for frozen shoulder and they made me throw my sling away after two days and was having physio on it two days later which I thought was pretty harsh. I'm getting a lot of pain with it and when I tell the physio about it they virtually tell me I just have to get on with it and it will get better, it's now been 6 weeks since my surgery.

      Hi Doreen,

i had a tear in the Rotator Cuff....wear and tear they say. It was a full thickness tear. So the tendon had to be anchored back onto the bone. It takes 6-12 weeks to re-knit to the bone. My op was Friday arvo, but tonight I just can't get comfortable or settled. First night home since op 😩

      your experience dosnt sound good

      Hi Kerri

Oooh that sounds painful, sorry it's going to take so long to mend, hope you're feeling a bit more comfortable today.  I had a FS release which is nothing compared to what you have had so no wonder you have to wear the sling for so long.  Good luck with your recovery hunnie confused XX

Hi Kerri. Hope this finds you a bit more comfortable,  and hope you have found a more comfortable position.   I know how u feel as I had another larger ml steroid injection this morning.  I had 1ml last month and no pain at all. Had  more ml today and omg wa so painful i cried. My daughter was watching and said doc put needle in then stopped and twisted needle round then put liquid in, and God I felt it.  Wasn't happy but glad it was done.  Then I've not been able to find a comfortable position, whilst passenger in car for 8 hours,

well hugs to you and hope tomorrow is more restful for you. Xxx

Oh Deb...you poor thing that sounds awful. Sometimes the people administering these injections just don't get it. I had a steroid injection back in December, which mind you did nothing, zip, zero, nil. But the doctor that did it was just horrid.

Then you had an 8 hour car ride....your kidding me. Did you have to travel for 8 hours to get to somewhere to give you an injection??? That's unbelievable 😳

I had terrible trouble getting comfy last night, but finally gave up on my bed and settled in my big lounge recliner, popping pills every time the clock said I could. Finally got to sleep. Bloody hard work though. Thank god for meds 💊💊💊💊💊💊💊. Hope you get some kind of relief, Sending gentle warm hugs from me to you 😘❌❌

Hey Maude.....I had a shower this morning....your right about orgasmic....just to straighten that elbow out feels AMAZING. Isn`t it amazing how something so simple can make us so, so happy? We take so much for granted. My other half has been brilliant and has done all the cooking since my FS started 18 months ago but it took a while for him to understand that he had to cut up my steak/sausages/chops when I was in my sling and now i`m out of it he forgets occasionally and I get bite sized meals and he still butters my bread when we go out for tea lol Hugs! xxx

Naaaw, how cute Maude. My husband is trying his best I must admit he is very patient, he just isn't used to domestic thinking that's all 😊
