Seems dead here....

I've been waiting to respond to posts...and there aren't any new ones...lately.

So, I will give an update on how I AM doing.

Ehh....trying to regulate medication...trying to use herbs vs. antidepressents.  Because of weight gain.

Trying to use herbs instead of sleeping pills.

Well, last night I took 5HTP and puked my brains out all night.  Probably because I have Seritonin coming from almost every drug I take (overload).

This SO reminded me of being drunk and sick.  Even thou I didn't throw up much when I drank (unless I was 2 weeks into drinking)...

I felt like a loser.

Here I am trying to do all the right things...and still getting sick.

Went to Dr. yesterday I was a total MESS.... knew I was a MESS...but you really don't know how much of a MESS you are until you start talking to someone...LOL.

I have not drank...I am still taking Campral....I am hoping I don't ever drink again

Not drinking is a huge victory, Misssy! Huge!

I was really worried about you going the AA-only route again, I'm so glad you've found something that helps you steer clear of the beer!!!

Check in with your doc on the herbs and be careful. Serotonin Syndrome is nothing to mess with, very dangerous indeed. Possibly fatal.

So, here you are with one enemy vanquished. Who's next?

I absolutely believe I had a touch of the Serotonin overload (syndrome).

I'm trying so desperately to get healthier...and puking my brains out in bed last night...really set my mood back.

      But, I'm drinking Chaomile tea....and I ate a bananna...starting to feel better.

To top it off I had a migraine at the same time...as I was puking...and I thought I would have to go to hospital...but I also took a migraine (Sumitriptan).....

Thank you for your reply smile

Very glad to hear you're feeling a bit better this afternoon, Misssy! I hope you get some good z's tonight and wake up refreshed tomorrow.

Have a look at the previews for "The Upward Spiral" by Alex Korb when you have the notion, there are some on Amazon and some on Google Books. Your library might have a copy you can snag for a bit. Might help you work the depression from another angle, to boost the effects of the meds.

When I saw your post, I thought about Ondansetron, which is an anti-nausea drug for chemo patients. There have been some studies where they've used a fraction (about 4 micrograms per kilogram) of the normal dose on people with early-onset AUD (15 y.o. or earlier). The results were good, but I don't think there are enough studies to be conclusive. Just another one of those out of patent drugs that Pharma isn't going to bother with. Maybe NIH or similar will pick it up and run with it, seems like we've got a lot of idle hands, some of them might like to be trained in medical research....

Thanks ADE...but I know for sure the Nausea was the overload of Seratonin...with the 5HTP....

It was really dumb of me to take it knowing I am on GABApentin....at the time Seroquel....Celexa...

.I thought because my doses were SO low...I wouldn't be impacted....and I was SO WRONG.

I had taken Melatonin prior to sleep with a Valerian...I was fine...but kept waking up after 1 hour of sleep (every hour until about 330 am.....then I decided to take the 5HTP...hoping it would put me back to sleep..and instead we know what happened...

I felt Nausea in about 20 mins after taking it!

Yeah, that sounds like a pretty bad night... ugh!

How are you doing on exercise? That might be a safer way of boosting your serotonin levels.

I had started...but not consistently because my b/f was sneaking me into the gym....lol.

I need to get my own membership so I can go freely....However, with the "no income" issue at the moment...I can't think of it...even thou it is ONLY 10 dollars a month.

Hello Missy. I was taking 5 htp at night, 200 mg capsual as I understood it helped with sleep issues. I've suffered with insomnia for a long time. Unfortunately 5 htp made it worse. Waking every 2 hours and then living life like a Zombie.  I decided a few weeks ago to stop taking any tablets at night and couldn't believe my sleep was so much better (life changing). The only problem was despite having all this good quality sleep, I started to feel 'low mood' creeping in because 5 htp raising your serotonin levels. I've only just in the last couple of days started taking about 50mg in the morning, I'll report back soon to let you know how it's going.

I did read that if you take 5HTP...in the day it still helps you sleep at night.

Unfortunately I was on serotonin toxicity.....I'm still sick from all the serotonin...i probably should have went back to hospital.

But, I am doing better today....

For insomnia....of late (last 2 days) I am taking Melatonin and it works..just doesn't KNOCK me out....or keep me asleep..but I feel better than when I was on all the other serotonin stuff.

I haven't had a drink in 2 days but I still feel like I'm dying. I'm just so weak because I can barely eat anything. Somebody suggested milk thistle to help cleanse my liver I have to go to work on Monday so I have to start eating and get my strength up. Hopefully I still have a job since it was my first week at my new job and I've already called Out 3 times

Keep the faith, I7. I expect you'll be feeling better by Monday. Misssy's been through detox, she may have some tips for you.

I definetly have some tips for you and sympathize with you that you have to work Monday..but you still have time...don't give in to drinking (as hard as IT IS).

I NEVER believed in what I'm about to say...but when we become desperate..we are more open minded.

DRAG yourself to the store...I know it is "dragging" yourself...because I have been in your position before (sick and alone).....

Get some Chamomile tea (bathe before this if you can) the tea is cheap..and also buy anything with hot "broth" - chicken soup..etc...you don't have to eat the noodles...but sip these warm liquids..and your appetite will start to return (tommorow).

You will think that you CAN NOT sip the broth..but you CAN...and if you DO...your mood and stomach will start to improve.

Valerian root will also calm your anxiety if you have no access to benzos.

I never believed in this stuff...but I have nursed back to life with it in the last 3 months....

      .

If you ARE able to go to the STORE...get some bananas for tomorrow...1 or 2..boil some eggs for tomorrow and saltine crackers....and by Monday morning your appetite should be improving.

If you have them on hand...take Vitamin B....Folic Acid (2 most important).

I KNOW the anxiety is over the top during withdrawal..I hope you have benzos..but IF NOT..the TEA...

Chamoile...will REALLY make you feel better and like you are doing something positive.

Of course...drink water too sad....or a sports drink......Its really hard to detox....

Try also Tumeric caps.  They are powerful antioxes that are capable of reversing liver damage.

      Keep going at it.
