I am now 13 weeks post op and had my 3 month check up at the hospital last week. They were really pleased with my progress and my walking saying I was ahead of schedule I am sleeping better and there is no real pain on operated side although still some pain in unoperated side but is easing off. My physio says I can now walk outside up to a mile without the stick and will take it of me next month if walking gets better with no pain either side ( can't wait). I feel like i have finally turned a corner it feels so great to be-able to walk without limping. I know i still have a long way to go, but i am back at work and swimming and before long i will hopefully be back cycling and hill walking. I would like to thank everyone for all their support on this forum.

That's really great news and fantastic encouragement to those of us who are still in the first few weeks post surgery. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like very good progress. You must be delighted. I had my pre op yesterday and the Golden Jubilee, and You are right, they are very very good. They seem so in the ball and organised and everyone I met were amazing. I feel so much better having been and tons of questions answered. The consultant said be about 3 to 4 weeks! Yikes. I am scared but cant go on like this. Delighted though to hear of your progress.I love to hear then positive stories. I think a lot of people post when need advice, which is what the forum is for, but I love to read the positive posts. So thank you.

Hi osprey that's great news 😀you must be delighted who is your surgeon mines was dr maheshwarI don't be scared it will be fine the pain you feel afterwards is totally different. I was told it was like really bad toothache, but it easies off. I was in ward 2 east and the nurses were very good. I am now back to normal shifts at work and managed to increase my swimming lengths yesterday and was sore afterwards but it was more muscle soreness rather hip soreness although feeling it a bit today (no pain no gain😀 Although I am only walking outside a short distance without a stick it feels very weird to be walking without a limp.good luck with your surgery just follow what the book tells you and listen to your body. Let us know how it goes xx

My consultant is Mr Changulani. He was very good at explaining everything and he checked in detail leg length. I have a discrepancy which has made my pelvis tilt and limp badly and was knowledgable about my childhood hip problem. So I am feeling fairly confident despite ....... myself.ha. its been an awful long wait. Decided with original surgeon time had arrived to have the replacement, that was a year past in January, then he decided to retire, was recomended a new consultant by him, which took 4 months, then after being in his list for 7 months and 2 failed timescales ended up transferred to the Jubilee because I am struggling...but I am glad I am going there as they seem excellent. I hope its like bad toothache as has to be better than the grinding and draggiing it around. It must be amazing to have no limp! Back to work though in time for summer maybe isnt so good.! Seriously you sound as though you are well on way to a full recovery..swimming as well. Woo hoo.

I am getting there although feeling it this morning this is my first week working 4 long shifts in a row but you get good days and bad days. I found the pain in the hip not to bad after the operation i had problems with the pain killers afterwards which made me sick for the first day but once they sorted it out was ok. I found getting the epidural ok although did get a bit of a backache for a while afterwards, but all this goes away. Just listen to your body you are going to be tired afterwards so just rest when needed. When they get up to walk afterwards it feels a bit werid and when they get you to up the stairs in the physio that feels a bit odd
but ok. I had a big room to myself which was really warm so take light. wearing clothing. Any questions just ask been there, got the T shirt
