I passed my first stool today since the surgery and bloody hell I was in so much pain. Been taking fiber diet and plenty of water but ended up with a constipation. Now I feel like my rectum wasn’t fully emptied and after inserting finger in there I can’t feel any poop. I’m in so much discomfort and I will see the doctor again tomorrow. For the last 4 days I’ve been on bedrest because I was suffering from spinal headache. I swear I will never remove hemorrhoid again. SMH

What did your doctor give you for softening your BM ??

I was given lactulose and fybogel and told to drink plenty of water.

    Eat a high fibre diet.

Breakfast I have bran flakes with either raspberries or blackberries. During the day I eat bananas, pears and apples.

For pain I was given paracetamol and dihydrocodeine.

    What were you given ?

If I had any problems the hospital gave me a number so that I could contact them.

I was given the same stool softeners but since I had constipation the surgeon doubled the dose warning me that I will have diarrhea but I didnt care just really wanted to empty my rectum and boy he burning from the diarrhea was terrible but because I normally sit in warm water everytime before and after bm i am feeling better now. Tomorrow marks one weeks since my surgery and my bms are normal now slowly healing. Thank u

I had/have that feeling that not everything has come out BM wise. I think that's just a part of the process of healing. I am 6 wks post op,

You’re right. I think so that it’s part of the healing process. One week now and feeling better not so much pain. Warm water sitting sessions really work wonders hehe

Mcclaine have you tried sitting in a bath of hot water after your bm? I bought a sitz bath to do this and it helps with the burning pain but you could also put a few inches of hot water in your bath to sit in after bm x

I did just that before and after passing stools and it feels really great. I’m not in psin anymore. Only when i pass stools bit so far my stools seem normal now so the pain is just from the healing cut i think

I don't understand why I'm still so sore. Each bm is really painful and I'm getting spasms in my anus after every one. I have a huge bright red lump there so still can't sit properly and feel exhausted all the time x

I understand how you feeling now. I get super exhausted too after BMs the first few days. Sitz baths and keeping myself hydrated are the main things I did to overcome the pain. Oh and I did took plenty of bedrest. If you’re in pain donthe sitz bath to soothe your lower body or just lie down and rest. If you’re still in pain and the pain killers don’t work tell your doctor and hopefully he prescribed you a stronger pain killer. That’s what my doctor did to me. I complained about the pain and he gave me a stronger pill, I also complained about the BMs and he doubled the dose for my stool softeners. Now I’m back to work normal and resumed normal daily activities, only struggling still with passing stools but I would just spoil my butt with the warm water. I hope you get well soon.
