Update at 11 Weeks or so

I'm posting an update on my condition.  I was diagnosed Feb. 20 with shingles on my scalp, forehead, eyelid, nose.  It was not in the cornea of my eye but it did make my right eye stick to the right when it should be looking straight.  I had the horrid pain, etc.

So the rash healed and I thought I'd be over this but that didn't happen.  Yes, the rash finally cleared but I am left with pain, tingling, numbness, burning, itching, and "worms" and my eye is still stuck to the right so I cannot focus properly or even think clearly as a result.  I still tire easily but am getting better.  I have good and bad days, still.  I am most worried about my eye and numbness, wonder if either will get better.  I am taking a number of vitamins and other supplements.  I still ice my eye, face, and head.

Hope everyone is getting better.

Are you on any anti virals? After I had my breakout and was in a safe period my doctor gave me the shingles vaccination. It has cut down on the recurrance and protection against further serious breakouts, no rash. Just itching. Have you checked with your eye doctor or GP if you can get the vaccine once the current outbreak has calmed down! It Shingex is the name of the vaccine and available at pharmacies in two injections the second is the booster.

Also so lidocane helps and many OTC supplamants can help. Are you fairly comfortable and have seen a doctor reciently? This disease is so miserable and I can't imagine how difficult this out break can be. It takes so long for them to clear. Take care and do keep posting.

Hi hope4 cure. Did you get the shinrex vaccine? If so did you have any side effects? I am a healthy 76 year old women and I had a severe case of shingles last July August and still suffering with burning pain numbness in my thigh . I have a prescription to get the shingrex vaccine but haven’t got it yet. I have held off because I have had some events that I had to attend and was afraid to have the vaccine and suffer with side effects and not get to the events.

I’ve had the first round of Shingrix.  The worst side effect was the soreness in my arm around the injection site.  It took about a week for that to go completely away.  I may have had some general malaise with it, but nothing that stopped me from doing anything I would normally be doing.

I came down with (oral) shingles Nov. 10th.  Mostly well now, but have some lingering effects, which may or may not go away.  It’s a debilitating illness that the medical community is virtually clueless about.  I’m still sleeping a good 10 hours/night and could sleep longer, but I force myself to get up.  My taste buds are still messed up.  My appetite is about 1/4 of what it used to be.  But I’m over the worst of it, and have had round one of the new vaccine (round two will be next month).  I am not going to have shingles again!!!
