UPDATE - Hip Replacement Advice - PLEASE

Posted , 11 users are following.

Hi everyone!!!  I just want to thank everyone who replied to my request for advise as to whether or not to move before or after having a THR.   It was a 100% - MOVE BEFORE the operation.   Your reasoning, opinions, advise was GREAT and it helped so much as to making my decision - therefore, I canceled my operation that was scheduled for this April and will be looking to this September to have it done.  In the meantime, I am now getting busy and looking forward to my move - I am doing a little each day and it seems to be working out very well.  I am VERY HAPPY I decided to do it this way - and you are all right - once moved - I can then concentrate on just getting better - no thought or stress of moving!!  I will be back on this site come time I am ready to have this done to get advice, ask questions and updating my process of going through this.  In the meantime, let me wish everyone who is going through this a very, very good outcome and many happy, healthy years ahead!!!!   Again, thank you all for your wonderful input and advice!

Good plan now so you will have the time to settle into your new home before having surgery.

Check out discussion group occasionally after your move so you can get info before surgery.

It is very nice to be settled in prior to your surgery. Less to worry about, focus on you. One mistake I think you have seen on these forms more often than not is that people try to push themselves to recovery to fast. Please take your time, enjoy your new house. No matter how much you try to speed it up it still takes time for your body to heal. Best wishes period from A-day 10 TRH.

Good luck with the move and all the best for your operation in September. The time will fly by I’m sure. Try to keep as fit as you can until then. If you are in the U.K. you can get a GP referral to a gym. I did that and Im sure it has speeded up my recovery process by getting my muscles stronger beforehand.
