Update on chest pain/palpitations

I have now seen the cardiac doctor, and he has so far found no problems with my heart, which is great, but have to have a echocardiogram in a couple of weeks to be sure. Gastroscopy was all clear, but I noticed in the two weeks that I had to stop taking Omeprazole beforehand, my palpitations went, and chest pain was must less of a problem. Had a phone call discussion with my GP about this, and she has decided to switch me to lansoprazole after having been on Omeprazole for 2 and a half years, so worth a try. What I would like help on now is, I am coming down by the slow method from 4mg to 3 mg , and wondering once I get onto 3 mg all the time should I stay there for a while or start going down to 2mg? This is my fifth attempt at reducing, and it is going well with no pain, so don't want to mess things up by doing the wrong thing. Thanks.

rosemary, I personally would not be tapering from 4 to 3, too large a drop. I don't know what is causing your problem, but would stabilize back at 4 mg and try a taper to 3.5 mg. Once you achieve that level take a week or two to stabilize before reducing to 3 mg. I tried to cut my 1mg pills in quarters, but was unsuccessful. Currently on 2 mg going to reduce to 1.5. Good luck, use the DSNS method, stay positive you will get there. 🙂

ROSEMARY, I've had palpitations off and on fir tears. Had a thorough workup - nothing found but they gave been more frequent lately due to anxiety about the possible ascending aortic aneurysm . I an due to see a specialist in 2 weeks.

I was diagnosed with PMR in 2015 and I am on 5.5mg. I plan to rest there for a few weeks. I go down only by 1/4mg . I find I am not exhausted and able to exercise - also no PmR pain. I found a mini pill cutter and first break the 1mgm tabl et in half at the line break in the middle of the tabket then cut that piece to 1/4 using the mini pill splitter. Voila!

    Sounding pretty good.

And at this sort of dose there is absolutely no hurry. I'd stick there for a months and then try the next step.
