update on complications from direct anterior THR april

Has anyone utilized the mayo clinic for surgery complications or revisions.  I have now gotten an MRI and an EMG.   Nerve damage in several locations and damage to both parts of the ..psoas.  This is not the cause of the mobilty problem of not being able to lift my leg more than 2 inches while standing and trying to do a march type motion.  Any suggestions. Done a ton of rehab in three businesses. No one is doing anything but saying hope for time to be your friend.  Need advice. Female and 71. Very nervous.

Hi carole, wow this sounds awfull , how long post are you? did you have the opp. done at the mayo? can you give us a bit more information, I can't believe they just told you to wait!!! that's disgraceful, does your insurance cover you for a 2nd opinion, and a different hospital? really this is no way to talk to a patient.

    Love and hugs,

i had  left knee replacement on aug 8-20-14 I got full range of motion numbers perfect...worked real hard.  Pain never left. Called surgeon to appt to consult and was called back by his PA and schedule for more rehab.

In march I approached doing the left hip as I was told that the pain

in lmy hip was likely radiating into the knee.  Had a different surgeon...same organization T.C.O. and he showed me the two

view xray showing my knee put crooked.  He said to go ahead with

the hip to help the knee and it would be a wall in the park compared

to knee surgery...which I had heard before.  so in april, 2015...The hip surgery.  Direct anterior promoted as bein less invasive and quicker recovery

Sorry to add this postscript in answer to the other question.

I did r.ecently get a second opinion and it was the doctor who used to work for tco and went to school with both of these guys  . He also showed me the error on implant and said difficult to revise due to the method used cutting something important and different type of implant used for that type of surgery.  He arranged the MRI and EMG and result of that is to wait and see.  I am allergic to penicilin and that would have been recommended for two months to rid the cyst.

Dear Carole ... I am so sorry to hear all this ... what I understand from your writing is that there is a problem with how they "fixed" your knee ??? (understatement, I know) and this cannot be corrected ?   There has to be a solution !! I am not sure what to tell you ... is there someone who can be your advocate?  who can insist on, perhaps, a 3rd opinion in a differen hospital?

try to not give up Carole ... have faith ....

warm hug and lots of love

thank you for reply. The knee surgery is the base of the pain problem.

then hip surgery that needed to be done for spurs etc. wAS the direct anterior type where they pull rather than cut and dig out and place in .

In this process it appears the psoas two area the illopsoas and the other psoas were over pulled and damaged and the several areas of nerves got damaged and are diagnosed as damaged to the point that recovery is not expected in this doctors opinion.  THe nerves will grow sprouts but at 71 that will take years.  I can not lift my foot upward off the floor more than 2 inches in the standing position and less in the sitting position so I can not get into bed or a car without major effort plus assistance.  I am once again in therapy with the third group...this type sister kenny group now called courage kenny. I am thinking I should find out if Mayo Clinic would have any solution for this challenge of complication of surgeries.

Hoping there maybe anyone who has had knowledge or experience in the realm.  or experience with mayo.

i am ready to accept prayers from anyone who wishes to add me to their prayer list for healing and recovery/  I have extreme reactions to penicilina

and sulfa which is what they use for a cyst trying first for a month and then aspiration with continued peniculin if it does not change for the better.  Now the doctor does not know what is in the cyst and so experimenting with antibodics without knowing the contents is too risky, so aspiration would be better, but high chance of infection into blood stream.  Many areas of nerves are damaged as well and no one has a plan as they believe recovery in my situation and age is not expected.

the psoas both kinds appear non functioning and no therapy planned.

oh my word do I ever appreciate the reike...I now have a growth on my a right nipple and is suspected to bepo something to do with the duct.  I am 71 and had a duct cancer on left breast 2007 all has been fine until now.  Should you feel like it feel free to send healing and protective  to that area on the right.  I was told to call my oncologist monday and get a new mammo and expect a biophsy.  I was just working into an aspiration of the cyst on the capsule of the joint on left.  I used to have funds for occasional reiki but now not possible.  Also a warm hug is always appreciated.  thank you so much.
