Hi everyone Shelia / Darasdad

Hope everyone is doing well ?

I had a really bad scare back on the 10th Feb was rushed to hospital with a suspected blockage after 4 days of trying to drain my stomach due to my stoma stopped working and being sick all the time and me in complete agony they put me in for emergency surgery they held off as they was in limbo couldn't do X-ray or ct scans as you see I am pregnant 14 weeks now 👏🙏😊 however surgery was needed as my small bowel was sticking out my stomach and the pain was unbearable with not being able to take much pain relief and nil by mouth for 5 days it was a living nightmare .. anyway turns out due to previous surgery it caused adhesions and somehow my small bowel had got twisted and strangled itself and went black so I had 85 cm removed reconnected and stitched up. Thankfully my baby survived this ordeal and I was feeling much better now back home after 10 days in hospital and resting .. it's been a bit of a roller coaster didn't realise this can happen anytime it was so shocking still I'm

Ok and baby due end of August .. 🤞🙏😊

Phew, that's sounds quite traumatic! So pleased everything's easier now. The Happy Event will come around sooner than you think. You're a Trooper, well done, I'm guessing that having a baby without all his other stuff is hard on a woman's body anyway. You have my total respect and admiration.

      Hey Darasdad

      How are you keeping ?

Thank you for your kind words and message means a lot oh dear these things that challenge us hey !!

I just pray I can carry my baby all the way and both to be as healthy as possible .. it's hard but had my bag over a year I suppose I'm just going to have to roll with it now and keep our fingers crossed 🤞 😊

Under the circumstances you're doing great. I've had a bag since October 2015 and my health is, generally, much better than before. Occasionally I think "why me" but it doesn't really get me down.  I'm having the glamorously named Rectal Stump removed on 23rd March. It was originally scheduled for tomorrow but has been delayed.

Thank you and likewise you have done amazing I remember when you first posted on here back in 2015 how things weren't so easy .. now look at us 😉 I know what you mean then I think of others that have been less fortunate and snap back to its not all that bad gave us our lives back so permenant or not it's easier than uc or crohns.

Oh day after my birthday I wish you all the best and hope the op goes well here's to a speedy recovery I think you will find compared to last time your healing time will be a lot faster as you're stronger and healthier now. Good luck please keep me

Hi Rachelle, What an astonishing and traumatic time you have had. Well done for coming through it. Is it very unusual to have such a complication? Congrats on the baby, certainly hope all continues well with no more problems.

We are continuing nicely and feel blessed. My son's pouch is great, no complications. I am grateful that he can lead a normal life and work as well as before the IBD reared it's ugly head.

He went on holiday a few days ago with his girlfriend of nearly 7 years who was so good at caring and cheering him up when times were very bad. They came back an engaged couple and we couldn't be happier. He looks so healthy, muscular and fit. Such a contrast from the skinny young man who struggled to stand straight after his emergency ileostomy. Thank goodness for the medical care he received. Just shows the body can recover from this disease.

      Take care. Sheila.

      Hi Shelia

Thank you for your lovely message I know very scary apparently it's pretty common due to previous surgeries and having adhesions 45 % chance can happen again. Which isn't nice to know but best to be aware.

I am so pleased to hear your son is living life to the full and now engaged congratulations!! Such lovely news it gives me so much faith hearing your story about him.

I hope all is well and thanks again take care and speak soon x
