this probably wont help since you are scheduled for surgery already and have seemed to make up your mind already.

but small hernias-umbilical or inguinal can easily and effectively be repaired without mesh. No need to stick a piece if plastic in the human body that for a subset of the population causes severe problems.

a long time ago i had a inguinal hernia repair with mesh and at the same time there was a small umbilical hernia too and he just stitched it up.

the inguinal hernia repair with mesh had destroyed my life and ended up having it removed where it was found to be balled up, rock hard and attached to a host of structures it shouldnt have been including my colon, bladder and spermatic cord .

i wish i had someone sharing to me what im sharing with you.

Hi Jonah thanks for your advice, the only reason mesh is being used is because I'm overweight, believe me when i say I've tried losing weight, with my mental health and medication I'm on,I'm just over 19 stone, the hospital told me I can't have the operation done without mesh.

    visit Herniatalk.com

it is headed by a well known and respected surgeon dr. sherwin Towfigh

    alot of topics are explored

one recent one was the overuse of mesh in hernia repairs.

she recently had a response to a post in which she said mesh does not need to be used for small hernias
