Upped citilopram dose

Posted , 5 users are following.

I have been on cit for 4 years, and 15 days ago my GP upped my dose because a family member passed away and it set off my anxiety double time. Anyway I have been taking 10 mg for the last 4 years and upped to 15mg 15 days ago. I have had every side effect just like before and still having them. I was told that since I have been on them for so long that it should be about 2 weeks for the new dose to kick in. Anyone been on celexa for a long time and have dose upped.

    Hi Linda

Every time I've had my cit dose increased it's the same as starting it for the first time. Horrible side effects, increased anxiety. IT DOES PASS can be 4-6 weeks to settle. Stick with it it'll be worth it. I found if things got too bad taking a diazepam helped but only took them if really needed to. Hope you're feeling better very soon. Take care xx

What side effects have you had? I wasn't on Citalopram for as long as that but I took 10mg for 1yrs before, started on 10mg this time and upped to 20mg and my body didn't cope with it well at all, I had very bad muscle twitching and jerking in bed at night, pins and needles, numbness and heightened anxiety - I have switched to Sertraline a week ago and still got the twitching muscles!x

My side effects have been all the basics which include anxiety, insomnia which I take xanax for, stomach issues, heart burn and kind of dizzy sometimes. Also have everything you have. My doctor said another week or so and the side effects will start to decrease. Good luck on your recovery.
