Upped the dose of Zoloft from 50 mg to 100 mg - 4 weeks and still no improvement

Have been on Sertraline for 4 years up to 1 0 0 mg and felt good. Decided to drop it slowly early this year with Doctor's advise to 5 0 mg. Anxiety creeps in and increased the dose from 5 0 mg to 7 5 mg and now to 1 0 0 mg for past 4 weeks. Still feel lousy and take 0.5 to 1.0 mg Ativan to calm down as needed.

Will this get better ? Initially when started with Sertraline it kicked in with minimal problems and started to feel good in 2 - 3 weeks. Went from 2 5 to 5 0 to 7 5 to 1 0 0 mg over 3 to 4 months,

If some one can respond I would much appreciate.

Hi Sharyan, firstly it is positive that you know that the medication works for you as you got better previously. Although you felt well a lot quicker last time, it doesn't mean that you will respond as quick again. 4 weeks is not a long time in the grand scheme of things so i would not make any changes for now and keep perservering with the 100mg before making any changes. Any dose changes can sometimes feel like starting again and it can often take a few months, let alone 4 weeks to settle as your brain adjusts to the changes. You also have the safety net of Activan but thoroughly recommend that you use these sparingly as it is quite easy to become reliant on these very quickly. In the meantime, do your best to distract yourself through work, reading, excercise. You got better before and you will again. Sending you best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Thank you for your response. If I take Ativan I take half of 1 mg pill. I am careful and don't want to create dependency. Hope this phase will pass soon.
