Upper abdominal swelling, right upper quadrant pain

I have upper abdominal swelling that occurs every few days thats tender and sore, pain significant on right side under rib cage.

This all started with a pain under my upper right rib cage. I had an ultrasound done that showed enlarged liver. CT of theabdoment showed showed one large hemangioma and 2 smallers ones on liver. kidney, pancreas, esophogas showed unremarkable. After I had CT done it appeared that my abdomen swelled up - the swelling went from lower abdomen to upper abdomen. Had gallbladder hida scan done came back negative - number was 40, still was experiencing pain. Surgeon indicated he doubt that the pain was from hemangioma. Blood work came back fine. Still having pain every other day under right rib cage, and swelling only in upper abdomen area. GI indicated scope was not necessary. Only other thing is I'm going through menopause. Anyone experiencing this - please help. this has been going on for 2 months. Surgeon indicated hida scan was done by me drinking ensure, need to repeat with nuclear med. Let me know if you are experiencing any of this. Thank in Advance.

Did you ever find anything or did it go away?   I had a similar pain but seems to worsen after drinking wine.   It’s not a pain but a swelling sensation.   I had something similar about 10 years ago And they couldn’t find anything after a bunch of test also.  Dr’s Wrote it off as a kidney stone.  Let me know what they found if anything for you.  Thanks

It's the small intestine the runs under the right breast that gets inflamed.   I was drinking a 1/2 glass of wine December 2016.   I ended up in the hospital with pancreatitis.

I have been having abdominal pain for years. been to many doctors and hospitals. I have been having upper right abdominal pain under ribs . I've had about all the tests the doctors could think of.. now they seem to think it may be "entrapment of nerves." Anybody ever hear of this? I'm on medicine. It does help some but still get pain. Some days it's very intense and some days I can tolerate it better. I have been swelling in abdomen too. I had my gall bladder removed even tho tests showed it was ok. Dr. said sometimes test don't show it all. It really did not help. Only ruled out gall bladder. sometimes the pain feels like spasms or sharp pain. It's now shooting up  to my

eye and I get headaches. I will feel so exhausted. My teeth even ache.. what's next?? It comes and goes... I also had trouble with my lower abdomen and constipation. I Had so much pressure in my pelvis area. All tests showed negative. My bowel movements were different shapes... pencil, bits and pieces, curled and etc.I was a mess. I was in so much pain, frustrated because doctors couldn't find anything. . Finally a doctor at uva hospital in charrlottesville  va  diagnosed my lower abdominal problem. She took measurements of the vaginal area while I was laying down and then again when I stood up. no doctor has ever done that to me. My uterous measured fine when I was laying down , but when I stood up, it really dropped ! Her name is Dr. AlisaTrowbridge.  Ended up I had to have partial hysterectomy( removal of uterus) , hemroidectomy(Inside and outside hemroids) and re-construction of pelvic area inside of me. Due to pressure from uterous falling.. it fell over into bowel area and obstructed my bowels to be different sizes and severely constipated, I was constipated and bowels could not move properly due to vaginal area needing to be re-constructed. Dr. Trowbridge said everything had moved and not where it should be..I had to have 3 surgeries at same time because they all connected with each other. My bowels and pelvic area are normal again. Thank God!  Dr. was hoping my upper r. side of abdomen pain was related to lower abdominal pain but it's not. It's entirely another issue. I'm dealing with it now. I'm posting this hoping it will help someone  not to suffer for years like I did . May God Bless You.

I was diagnosed with a spinal cord compretion c5/c6 in 2016 and my belly has swollen up and my right side under my ribcage looks like it has a bid dint .

I can't twist or bend if I do I get a horrible twisting and squeezing and shooting pain from my right side strait along by chest towards my heart.

The only way it will go away is if I put my arms above my head and stretch, this can be very dangerous as I said I have a spinal cord compretion.

It's the same when I put my shoes on and attempt to the my laces.

Went for a ultrasound scan and I'm awaiting results.

My white blood cells are very high along with high blood pressure one day and low blood pressure the next.

    My neurologist is baffled.

    What's wrong with me?

I have been going through (hell) this exact issue for almost 2 years. RUQ pain just under my ribs. This pain has been progressively getting worse over the last decade. My PCP thought Gallbladder but no one else agreed. Ultrasound shows no sludge, or stones.

I did a few tests, one for digestion and another ... honestly, I can't remember, but both were unremarkable.

HIDA scan came back overactive at 97% but apparently that isn't an issue to the Docs around here. They found and treated an ulcer with the endoscope, and removed polyps with the colonoscopy, but still it persists.

They diagnosed NAFLD but all Doctors involved state this wouldn't cause this pain and now I wait for an appointment November 9th to meet with a Boston GI and hope we can finally figure this out.

I had a hysterectomy and woke up in menopause September 2021, and that is when THIS pain started to become unbearable. OB checked and all is well on that front.

I also have Hashimoto's and RA.

I quite literally feel your pain. And it sucks.
