Upper Back Twitches when Pressed

Hi all I recently had my first massage and on my back there are two of three points that when pressed make my back twitch / spasm. I do not have back spasms at any time when my back is not touched. I was a cheerleader for many years and experience some back discomfort and the need to crack my back often. I was wondering what these twitches are, they are not painful, just highly uncomfortable. The points that cause the twitch are only on my upper back. Any insight would be helpful, I dont really want to visit a doctor in person because it doesnt really give me pain! Thank you in advance 😃

Hi Alyssa, It sounds like muscle spasms, (deep tissue massage can actually trigger spasms if you aren't used to them or they are done too hard or incorrectly) stick with relaxation massage for awhile, if you can lightly massage your shoulders, upper back, neck, in between your shoulder blades, no deep tissue, for now....heat, all over in the area, easy stretching, range of motion movements, rest, avoid heavy lifting and back strain, you can try anti-inflammatories(ask you Dr what is best suited for you) if you have other medical conditions or take meds, it may be better to use a topical anti-inflammatory or if it continues/gets worse, your Dr may want to try muscle relaxants, until you can get some proper physio & get your pain under control...Its worth it to talk to your Dr to start some OTC treatment, until you can get in and have the source of your problem diagnosed...Good Luck getting your pain and spasms under control, come back if you need more help and keep reading, lots of ideas on here BEST WISHES💒☮🎶🐾🌈♾🍀
