Upper endoscopy and colonoscopy on same day.

I'm 72 and have been referred by my g.p as urgent as food occasionally gets stuck on its way down the oesophagus and am quite 'acidy' in the evenings. Also have been having intermittent constipation/ diarrhoea. the gp thought it would be good to get both done in the same appointment, but I'm sure I read somewhere that if you're having both these tests done you wont have sedation for the endoscopy as the doctor needs you to be able to be awake for the colonoscopy. If this is true I feel like cancelling the upper endoscopy as I don't think I can cope without sedation..Can anyone reassure me please as my anxiety levels are going through the roof..
