Upper Stomach Pains

I am trying to help my sister. She is 31 and doesn't go to doctors and this seems to me like it could be something serious but I am not sure what.

She woke up today with a pain in her upper middle stomach. It's a dull my constant pain. Not like a nausea pain. However she did vomit once today. She has chills and hiccups and that is the only symptoms so it doesn't seem like a cold or flu to me. Anyone have any idea what it could be? I know you can't diagnose but any suggestions for over the counter medicine or other sysmptoms to watch for

Thanks

I think it might be her appendix. The pain can start in the upper belly and eventually move to the lower right groin. Fever, nausea and chills can or cannot occur. It's rather tricky, some come on fast and furious, others more slowly.

I appreciate the info. Didn't think of that. I'm concerned and don't know what I can do to get her taken of since she refuses going to a doctor all the time.

If she is heading towards appendicitis, she will have no choice. The pain will intensify and God forbid it bursts, she will be in trouble. My friend just had that happen a few months ago. He ignored the pain for a few days, then had to call an ambulance cause it burst. Then it's peritonitis and all the poison goes through your abdomen. I hope I'm wrong, but watch her closely. If she develops a fever, it's not good.

What did she eat? Did she try a new diet?

No new diet and no changes to what she normally eats. Just said she woke up with it yesterday and as the day went on it gradually got worse. I'm heading over to her house in a few minutes to check in on here and see how she is doing. Just wish I could get her to get it checked.

You might want to ask her what her specific reason for avoiding doctor visits is. You never know; it might be fear of injection needless, the sight of doctors with stethoscope hanging down their necks, or some other reason.
