Upper thoracic / neck back pain.

My problem is upper thoracic back pain. It is less painful when I am walking, but the minute I sit, lie down or simply stand still, the dull pressure pain from between my shoulder blades going up to my neck begins and headaches develop. This only started less than a year ago, and it is getting worse by the day. Sleep is difficult now. X-ray shows osteo arthritis I am told. I have tried osteopaths, physiotherapists and sports massage. Only thing offered to me by the doctors are pain relief injections. I was worried in case there was a tumour, but was refused a scan as they said it would not help. Any ideas?

I had pain in my lower and upper back right between the shoulder blades like you, but i never got headaches to be honest. I saw doctors, specialists and physios and nothing helped much too, but if I could recommend anything it would be a treatment called Egoscue. I tried it and havent had back pain in 10 years.
See if you have a therapist nearby.

thanks for getting in touch. I had never heard if this method, so looked it up on the web. There are a series of Egoscue videos designed to help various parts of the body. I will definitely give it a go. It looks similar in some ways to Pilates, but there are new exercises too. Well worth a try. I ll look out for a practitioner too. Thanks again.

It looks like it's been a year since you posted this, so I don't know if I'll hear back from you, but your symptoms sounds very familiar to me. I attribute the symptoms from being up moving around and then when I feel like I've just got to lay down the symptoms sort of grow on me until sometimes a long time later they start to subside. Have you found any answers yet? I've been struggling with this for quite some time, so would love to hear back from you.
