Upping Amitriptyline

Posted , 3 users are following.

So my doctor told me that if I saw no improvement in my anxiety and anxiety nausea with 10mg of Amitriptyline by Friday, I should up the dosage to 20mg.

It's Thursday now and to be honest I'm planning to up the dosage tonight.

I started 10mg of Amitriptyline on Monday, and honestly I felt nothing on them. I didn't feel sedated, I didn't feel any improvement in my stomach either. I've ended up vomiting a few times (which is a symptom of my anxiety) and it's become more difficult to sleep.

I'm currently tapering off Mirtazapine at the moment too (I've taken 15mg for two months, and felt very little on them).

I'm just hoping that by upping the dosage I might start to feel the more sedative effects, lately I've just had short waves of anxiety at night and moments of sweating too.

I really hope 20mg will take effect.

Hi, try alternating between 10 and 20, you'll be more able to see if it is effective without suddenly feeling out of it next morning.

Are they sure it's anxiety you are dealing with? Have they run other tests to rule out stomach problems? I hope it will help you feel better.

      Hi Tiffany,

At this point I'm not sure what it is. I've had blood tests and a CT scan some for my stomach. I haven't got the results back for the CT scan yet, and my blood tests came back fine.

The fear of vomiting and waking up sick in the morning causes me more anxiety. I have moments of panic and worry (especially around food). I just don't know what to do.
