Upping dosage of citalopram

Hi all. I am new here and was wondering if anyone could advise me. I have suffered with bouts of depression for years and have used both Prozac and latterly Citalopram. I was changed after my breast cancer diagnosis about 9 years ago. However lately I have noticed that my 20mg dose has not been so effective particularly in a year when I lost my father, had broken wrist and dislocated elbow etc. I was put up to 30mg for a month by doctor and seemed to improve. I then went back to 20mg and have been ok for 6 months. In the last 2 weeks however, I have been really struggling to cope with work anxiety (I'm a teacher) and have gone back up to 30mg. I feel really anxious particularly at night and as I live alone am finding it hard to cope. i have had three chest infections recently so have taken a week off to try and knock this on the head. Anyone got any ways they can suggest to supplement my recovery? I know I'll probably feel worse before I feel better with the Citalopram. Helpful books, programmes, routines anyone ? Thanks in advance. This is really a debilitating problem and I hate being one of the victims.

hi jane I've noticed that you haven't had a reply bless you I just want you to know you've been heard 😊

at the minute nothing is working for me as you did just reply to my post but what I normally try and do is keep telly or radio on in the background so when you are alone at night you aren't so distracted with your thoughts x just something light like a comedy or something you don't need too much concentration to do x

it will help you feel less alone

post on here as often as you can for support and advise as talking always helps a lot x

keeping busy and distracted is important aswell as hard as it is it will just make the day go a little quicker for you x

just remember you got better before so you will get better again 😊
