Upping sertraline

hello,

ive recently upped from 50mg to 100mg 9 days ago. struggling from all of the side effects and just hoping someone can confirm they felt the same basically. have been on 50mg for 3 years and they worked brilliantly until a few weeks ago so my dr recommended upping the dose to 100mg. just worrying that the tablets arent going to work as i feel a lot worse than i did a few weeks ago.

It's normal, not everyone gets side affects after upping dose but certainly nothing to worry about. Which side affects are you getting ? Give it time, at least a couple of weeks if you can and it's safe to do so. Even though you've been on it for a few years you'll definitely feel the side affects/eventually the benefits of taking that extra amount. Give your body time to adjust and let the new dose settle in to your system, might feel rough for a bit. If after 2 or 3 weeks your still not feeling the benefit speak to GP.

the side effects im having are increased anxiety, stomach issues, nausea and having thoughts about harming myself. ive spoken to gp and he has said its normal and to stick with it. just panicking that there is something more wrong with me and searching into other mental health issues and scaring myself even though im not showing the symptoms of them.

    Hi Sam,

I have been on sertraline since April this year. I started on 50mg for a month then moved onto 100mg. Just recently I moved onto 150mg and the first few days I didn't feel to bad but now I am starting to feel how I did when first starting sertraline and when I changed from 50mg to 100mg. Side effects are brutal, increased anxiety, racing thoughts, heart racing and just the constant dark cloud over you. I have been told this is normal to experience this and to hang tight and weather the storm as it is your body adjusting to the new dosage. Your not alone feeling like that so stay strong.
