Upset stomach and somewhat depressed

Posted , 9 users are following.

I awoke this am feeling very nauseous (along w/my typical headache) and feeling unusually depressed. I normally wouldn't take my dose of prednisone 4 another couple of hours. Does anyone know if I'm 2 do it now instead, might that help or would it just screw things up? Any Quick answers would be greatly appreciated. Thx, Lynda

It's probably too late now, you will have made your decision one way or another.  I don't know enough about it to advise you but I would think there would only be a point in taking it early if you had PMR pain. I don't think it's much good for anything else.

Hope you are feeling a bit better by now.

Thx kate, actually I've not taken it yet, but you DO have a good point. If not the pmr, then it probably won't really make a difference. I was just wondering if it might have been a kinda w/d. But who knows? I'm just gonna take it now and see how it goes.

No reason why you can't take it - and as long s it stays down for an hour or so it should be fine.

Thx Eileen, I'm gonna take it a bit early and just see what happens. I was just wondering if it may have been some type of an early w/d? Who knows?? Things seem to change on a daily basis with all these things!

Why withdrawal? That happens when you drop too much all at once.

    Hi Lynda ,

I think it takes a couple of hours at least for pred to kick in so it's not a quick fix. The PMR pain is normally worse around 4.30 am so many people take it early so by the time they get up it's having an effect. I split my dose as I've told you.

The depression you mention can be a side effect of pred. I have it mildly and deal with it using techniques like having projects which inspire me to think about but also by daily meditation using the Insight Timer app I find it really helps!!!

    Blessings and Go Well.

PS Lynda I make a tea of grated ginger (good for nausea and anti -inflammatory ) turmeric, honey, lemon and cider vinegar. Make a big pot, heat it up and drink throughout the day. Very good for PMR.
