Upset with the Mono😰

Many many thanks for this group, I'm glad that i can share my problems here.
It all started by last weeks of August 2019. Fever upto 102, pains in muscles and joints ( shoulder, knee, pin pain is arm pit area) muscle twingling , losing body weight , neck and upper back pains .. what not ... went to Urgent care , Emergency Care twice and my primar doctor visits ... Every time i had to do blood work(4 times CBC test) , urine culture , Chest xray, blood culture and whole lot of tests , lyme disease, lupus, sepsis, ANA test.. Everything turned out to be normal , except i was slightly anemic due to iron deficincy ... Doctors had no clue what is the cause .. Then i was referred to Infectious disease doctor and i got his appointment on October 16th .... He did tests for EBV , CMv, and TB ... and turns out to be EbV igm is negative, igg> 155 and EBNA> 600 ... The doctor said confirms the sign of past infection and that is reason for this fever .. I couldnt understand what he means past infection ,? can this past infection induce fever ... i have been never sick this long on my lifetime ... so wondering fallen sick in august and taking the monotest on october is considered as past infection?
Now, almost 2.5 months , i see my fever coming only in evenings and the max temp it goes is upto 100.4 and comes down to 99.5 before i go to bed for the past one week ... Then next day morning resumes with normal temp. pains are there but comparitvely reduced ... since october my weight is stable and not losing much ... Can i considered these are signs of recovery?
This phase of my life is really struggle, mental trauma is heavy ...Always confused with "C-word" disease until doctor said EBV couldn be the reason....

like if i read my story and my symptoms 😦 im sick with mono 2 months got tested narly on everything visited all possible doctors and the tests are mostly good, except EBV +EbNA IGG over 300 and igm negative. They discovered some bacteria in my lungs and i had to take antibiotic and this got me super weak and the mono symptoms were even increased:( went even to hematologist and such tests were ok too. it s very hard not to freak out and not to panic as this lasts and lasts and the symptoms continues 😦 i have better and worse days i see this is very much connected with my psychical state and mono impacts it negatively. fatigue muscle aches pin pain in armpits neck pains and upper back and chest etc fever is gone but i lost weight. good i have appetite. hopefully will gain some weight back.. they prescribed me patience and really not to focus i am sick which is tough given the symptoms. However, I strongly believe mono will go away and i will come back to good health, which is also my wish to YOU. Take care.

Hi,
Sorry you're going through this. Usually mono lasts a couple of months, but most people om this site are unwell much longer. I've had low grade fever evenings since the virus started 18 months ago.
I hope you get well much sooner.
Try to take one day at a time, and find comfort and reassurance here, that however long it takes, it's pretty normal to have all sorts of strange symptoms, while all your blood-work keeps coming out normal.
Take care.

At the moment I have the low grade fever approximately 4 - 5 days a week, accompanied by a slight feeling of malaise in these late afternoons. Ever so very slowly getting better, and it's been a year and a half.

they say ebna gets visible from 2 to 4 months after infection. Mono could cause fever. i had moderate fever (higher in the evenings and high enough for body to feel something was not right). My mono was diagnosed after a month of living a nightmare with the symptoms and bouncing back from different docs saying i should be feeling ok based on tests. MONO in my case was the last suspect. Now all puzzles are matching symptoms etc. mono starts very rapidly in my case i was not able to do anything being so weak. Never felt that ill in my life. Now its slowly getting better but having still this cold /flu like symptoms increasing and decreasing to some level and little enrgy + muscle and body aches plus stress ( which i have to limit) that its taking so long (2month). Thank God this forum exists.
