Urethral dilation no relief please help

Hi

I really hope someone on here can help me I am struggling to find answers anywhere and feel so upset. I’ve struggled with UTI’s frequently for years and years and in the last three/four months it became a constant daily struggle with the symptoms of a UTI- mainly urgency to pee. It becomes a lot worse at night and just constantly have the feeling and use the bathroom every 30minutes to an hour . There was no infection on any of the tests just the symptoms and always a slight stinging and a constant awareness of feeling like I need to wee but in my urethra not from my bladder. Everytime I would exercise or walk a lot it would get worse and as a fitness instructor I love to workout and have to maintain my workouts as it’s my job but I obviously wasn’t able to do so. After a few scans I finally had a cystocopy and urethral dilation five days ago. After the initial soreness I expected to feel some relief but my symptoms are now worse than  before and I feel exactly the same. The doctor said my urethra was very narrow and so they widened it. I had a catheter in for three hours after.

I don’t know what to do! I feel so heart broken because I expected this to be the relief I have been praying for. It also hurts to have sex and whenever I did it was incredibly painful and would almost feel like I had something in there afterwards so I had to stop having sex with my boyfriend. Should I have felt some relief after the dilation? Is this a sign that something is still wrong? I’m at my wits end and don’t know what to

do.

I had a urodynamics test as well as a ultrasound and all normal. When my problems got worse they never retested my blood or did a swab.

Thank you. Bella xx

Bella, minimize the dilation. Catheter and dilating could lead to a much worse problem which is a urethral stricture. I don't have uti. but I hurt myself months ago and I am having little problems on my urethra. I don't plan to dilate nor catheter nor surgery if stricture may happen to me in the coming months... but I found this possible hope. Try Bee Pollen. I have read from others with urethral stricture problem that it relieves their urination. Perhaps you could try it in your symptoms and tell let me know what is your results.

Disclaimer. I don't promise you anything. I just read this from others and I am preparing myself. I got little urinating discomforts but no signs of urethral strictures yet. I got Bee Pollen at hand now.

    Hi Bella,

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing such pain, I totally know how it feels. I have been suffering with urethral stricture disease for some time & have had 12 dilatations. The 2 last dilatations I had done have given no relief. I can only drink water & small amounts, sex is not worth the pain either, I am now waiting for Urethroplasty which will hopefully be the final solution to this for me. Maybe you should ask your consultant about it, better than suffering for years.  Dilatations only cause more scar tissue to form & are not a permanent solution.

I hope this helps and wish you good luck.

Hi bella, I am so sorry to hear that you are so unwell after your dilatation. I am 24 from ireland and have a urethral stricture also , i was diagnosed with this in november 2016and had my first dilatation under general anaesthetic then, it lasted me for one year and then i had another dilatation november 2017 , which lasted until 8th of june this year , I stoped urinating completely in may and had to go to accident and emergency and get a catheter inserted for 6 weeks before my surgery and post sugery 3 weeks as they felt it would help my urethra to heal around the catheter, they suggested that i would keep it in for six weeks but due to personal circumstances , i couldnt. Unfortunately it is now only august and i am symptomatic again. My consultant does not reccomend for me to have uroplasty or a stent fitted. The first few weeks were also too painful to have sex with my partner, the doctors told me it would take about 6 weeks before i was fully healed and for the swelling to go down, i also would like to ask a question , do you suffer from intense kidney pain ? I have been going through multiple tests because i feel like there is a bag of ice in my kidney which really burns when i begin to get symptomatic. I have had multiple cts and voiding cystograms along with sti checks , blood work and urine tests which have all come back clear, i feel like there maybe something that the consultant is missing ti which i am at my wits end and would love it if you had any information you could share with me . I wish you the best of luck also and thank you for taking the time to read ,
