Urethral stricture due to BXO

Posted , 6 users are following.

Hi,

Has any of you developed urethral stricture due to the skin condition called Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans (BXO), also known as lichen sclerosus? I suspect I might have BXO and as a result, experiencing urinary problems, i.e slow stream and dribbling. I understand that the condition can result in urethral scarring so just wondered if any of you had it and how long the strictures tend to be?

Thanks,

hei bro, just 2 months ago I went through 1 stage urethroplasty, due to Litchen sclerosus, damaging Big Time, not 2 say, destroying just over 2cms of my urethral tube......

Self cat, is a Big Time waist of time, particularly for LS stritches, which in most cases to widen fast, but not always, in may case they did ....

What are your current symptoms and pain level? Stream slowing down is just one of the many side effects of LS damaging/scarring your urethral tube

Have you done a cystoscopy through specialized Urologist ? that will give you exact lengh and location of LS stritches.

advise is to pick through your GP, a specialized Urologist in stritches,

    ask me whatEVS

      Hey,

I actually don't know yet if I have LS even though I've seen maybe 4 dermatologist and 4 urologist. The amount of doctors negligence I had to deal with is just incredible. The symptoms though indicate that I probably have LS and strictures. I've been put on various creams to deal with the skin issue and drugs to deal with "enlarged" prostate. I am under 30 so clearly I have no prostate issues, must be LS

I have slow stream, dribbling and fibrosis in my penis. The lumps in my penis make it bend to the left side, so urologist say it is Peyronie's. I also sometimes have this burning feeling in urethra, like if you put some salt on the wound.

I am waiting for uro appointment but here in UK is takes ages. I will defo ask for cystoscopy. I will need to see private derm soon to get LS diagnosed

Have you also developed Peyronie's as a result of LS? How do you deal with skin issues and how does it look? My penis head is just red and irritated. What symptoms other than slow stream did you have with strictures ? Would you say urethroplasty was success?

sorry, lots of questions but I seem to get more info here than from any doctors

liaison between a good dermatologist and urologist is crucial. Does not matter how much care you take, LS can always penetrate inside your urethra meatus or tip, even though is rare, but it happens. When is your cystoscopy ? from the results we can make a plan. I went through some negligence with urologists, as LS, is the NIGHTMARE of urologists, particularly when it enters the urethra. So is crucial to have a urologist that specializes in urethral reconstruction due to LS stritches, and there are NOT many...

have you tried diprosone ointment for outer tip skin LS condition, circumcision is a very effective way to protect tip of penis from LS reoccurence. Redness and irritation, and the white line on the tip of penis is a clear sign of LS.

How is your pain level at the moment? are you taking pain killers? I m not suffering from Peyronie's, yet..... - The level of burning pain in the urethra determines how long are the LS stritches, they can became super painful but usually the will not block fully the urine stream, but they can get closer to the bladder neck or cause other major problems....

penis head is just red and irritated, sign for me the LS is hitting both inside and outside

in terms of pain, i have no constant pain so i don't take any painkillers. it feels more like irritation, burning of the glans and urethra and sometimes I get sharp stinging feeling in the urethra that subsides in seconds

I am still waiting for my first nhs appointment with urologist. the waiting times are just crazy, been waiting for about 7months and I think might have to wait another month or two. so realistically, no cystoscopy for another 3 months or so unless I decide to go private. I've only been seeing private urologist just to receive no help...

where exactly was your stricture located? how far in urethra from the opening of the penis? did you also have circumcision?

urethra stritches narrowing will cause the exact discomfot you giung through inclusive burning sensation on the glans. As pain level is not yet intense in your case, I would say your stritches are not longer then 1.5 cms, danger comes when they go over 2cms, like my case. As for LS strutches they usually hit inside the tip / meatus, if the they start widening inside is advisible to perform reconstruction/uretroplasty, for my case they widen very fast, going over the 2cms. The intensity of your discomfort, pain, flow speed will be determined by narrowing, widening and LS damaging the tissue of the uretral tube.

were your dermatologysts able 2 determine if you had any LS on your outer tip skin area ? thats how it starts

No, the dermatologist did not diagnose anything. he said he did not know why my penis was irritated, red and sticky and that's something I would have to learn to deal with. I am going to see a private dermatologist who specialises in penile skin condition so hopefully he can confirm. But I am almost confident I have LS.

In terms of LS treatment, did you also go for a circumcision? Also, was your sperm yellowish in colour because of the stricture?

circumcision is very effective vs LS affecting prepuce and glans of the penis and to stop it penetrating inside urethra..., any good dermatologist will advise you so, if LS is detected inside with cystoscopy, or just to treat further recurrences of LS in the outer tip area.

your pain / discomfort level will be determined by level of scarring/damage tissue of your urethra and size of strictures. My advice just in case pain level escalates, go private and do cystoscopy asap.

ei bro, lets have a chat one if these days, are you on whatsup??

how do you find an expert in this field?

has 2 B, a reconstruction urologist, most of them are not. LS inside urethra can expend very fast and in most cases cystoscoies and self cat makes things worse

I've finally got to see a good dermatologist and confirmed that I have LS but was also told that it is unlikely that LS penetrated into my urethra because it is a mild case.

How did your LS entered urethra? Did it start at the meatus?Did you have a scarring or smth? Why did urologist decide to do cystoscopy?

LS penetrates inside in rare cases like mine LOL, I m glad you are with a good dermo, as he suggested circumcision at this stage, I would say only if LS gets worse outside, which ointments are you taking at the moment ?

Several studies have suggested that the warm, moist, urine-exposed environment that exists under the foreskin contributes to the pathogenesis of BXO. Balanitis xerotica obliterans (BXO) / lichen sclerosus of the male genitalia This explains why circumcision arrests the progression of the disease

i had to do cystoscopy to check LS penetration, as very severe damages will occur very fast as soon as it steps in, and my pain level was out of this world...

i was not recommended to get a circumcision because the case is mild.. however, steroid cream was prescribed, though not the most potent one.

I am experiencing difficulties to urinate and my urethra is kind of irritated but i was assured i should not have strictures but i am not convinced. Have you had a scarring at the meatus?

    • Posted

had scarring a bit everywhere...., LS is the worse for that. Are you feeling any burning sensations?

    • Posted

I am feeling burning sensations in my urethra but on a various degree. Some days more, some days less and some days none at all...

hey bro. any progress with this? did they diagnose a stricture?
