Urethroplasty Jan 29

What are some must haves and things I need to be prepared for the surgery? I don't know if I will need a graft from my cheek until he gets in there. I read that I will need a ring butt cushion, bike pants, something for the catheter, loose pants/sweats. I am also requesting medication to reduce the chances of getting erections while sleeping. This is very painful! Any suggestions/ideas before going under is helpful.
Thanks

i had the cheek graft urethroplasty just over 4 months ago now and would recommend a few things. If you have the cheek graft this hurts the most for the first few days at least. I was in hospital for 2 nights with a catheter and drains in place and then sent home with catheter in for another month. Get a couple if pairs of baggy jogging bottems and spare catheter equipment as you will need it and leg strsps. Ring butt cushion a good idea but i made do with pillows. I still get aching now 4 months on but flow still very good. keep catheter clean and avoid pulling it on anything .Erection issues wernt too bad but you need to keep catheter tube lunricated. Let me know if you need to know anything else as ive been there
good luck

thanks for the response. What gets a key on you? Did they provide you with a lubricant for the catheter? Did you wear boxers, or briefs? I found someone to write me a prescription to prevent erections from happening. It really treats fungus infection but supposedly will help not getting erection! I also think I’m going on the same day. Is it normal to stay in the Hospital for a day or two?

You will need to wear briefs to give support. Your scrotum swells really bad although mine wasnt painful. I just kept the catheter tube really clean and used a bit if petroleum jelly at the tip though not sure if this is recommended. This was the 2nd urethroplasty for me as i originally had one 20 years ago so mine had more complications thsn i think yours will. The cheek pain and having the catheter in for that time is the worst part i found but have a good flow for now i just hope it lasts

getting the catheter well supported in the right position is the most important thing for comfort as it drags when you walk

thanks. I had a surgery about 18 years ago where they went up through the penis hole and lasered it. Two weeks after the surgery the scar tissue built back up and I have not had a surgery sense. After this surgery, if it comes out slow again I am going to just live with it! No more surgeries for me! Fingers crossed. Thanks!

shave yourself!!!! some hospitals don't shave you enough and the tape sticking down the catheter tubing say to your stomach or leg hurts like hell at times! shave from the belly button down to the thighs!! better to be safe than sorry!
