Urge to wee all the time

Hi there, I am 58 and for the last 18 months I have been suffering from what the docs told me is Vaginal Atrophy. Then 2 weeks ago the gynaecologist said it was Lichen Sclerosus. So wether Ive got both or just one of them, I don't know but apart from Vaginal Soreness and burning my symptoms are:

1) Urge to wee all the time then only doing a drop.

2) Urge is normal but when I get to the loo if I feel I will wet myself if I don't get my pants down quick enough.

3) Soreness seemingly building up at the end of the urethra that stops when I have a wee.

And

4) Soreness that starts after I've had a wee.

I will add at this point that I don't get the same symptoms every day, some days are worse than others and some are better. Today was a nightmare. Really sore inside my Vagina and outside, as well as wanting to wee when I have just been. That started at lunchtime and I'm still feeling it now, the urge to wee all the time I mean. The soreness up inside is virtually gone, for now anyway.

I bet I have time get up in the middle of the night to empty my bladder properly following not having a normal wed all that. That's what usually happens anyway.

Am really sick of this. :-(

I also have only a burning sensation, five doctors later, now being seen by urogyn , pain my urethra , post menopause, possible lining in urethra is slipping. I'm been prescribed permarin , estrogen cream, pea size amount to the end of my urethra before bedtime. On night two, he said it might take a week to show improvements. Been suffering since April 2015, crazy tests, but this only took an internal with explaining my symptoms, and his great eyes, he says he can actually see a little of the lining. My fingers are crossed, this works. Good luck on your search

      Hi Lynda,

Not sure if you will see my posts, because I know you posted awhile ago.  I started in with frequency 5 months ago (Nov 2015), then constant horrible urge to urinate, then burning (not when urinating though) was never sure if vaginal or urethra. Diagnosed with vaginal atrophy. Prescirbed premarin pea size on urethra like you and 1/2 tube vaginally 3xweek.  Been on premarin 4.5 months now - have had recurrent UTi's past few months, and still have burning irritation every day (some days burning worse then others, but always there at some pain level). Only thing that helps with burning  is warm/hot baths and I have small square frozen ice things on me all the time and sleep with ice pack (inside cloth) every night all these months. Going back to Gyno on 4/15/16 to see if possibly I need oral estrogen (I'm 60 so worried about more estrogen risks) If you see this post, can you explain more about the urethra slipping so I can have my Gyno check? Thanks so much!

I would suggest going to a Urogynecologist....It was just suggested to me, and I think you may benefit too...If you have already been to a Urologist, try the profession above..Maybe the Urogynecologist can diagnose you correctly...God Bless You, and for what you are going through. It's horrible, I know

Thank you Piper. I've not actually been to a Urologist, just a gynaecologist. It took the Doctors 18 months to even do that! The female doctors told me there was nothing more they could do for me! So I thought I would try a male. It doesn't worry me talking about intimate body parts to a male and so that's what I did. He was very quick to get me an appt with the gynaecologist. But really, after seeing her I'm no nearer. She wasn't listening to me. She just went her own way. The urinary side of it was never addressed, even though I told her about it. She never picked up on the Vaginal Atrophy at all. Just the LS. Wouldn't listen when I said that three lots of HRT hadn't worked for me! So really apart from finding the few little spots on my Vagina which may or may not be LS, it was pointless me going to see her. But I will mention Urologist/Urogynecologist next time I see the doctor. It's an awful thing to deal with isnt it Piper. Yesterday was one of the worst days yet. But now the soreness and the urge to wee all the time have gone - for now. I dread them returning. Im trouble most days with these symptoms but not often as bad as yesterday. I dread it all kicking off if I am away from home. And often I don't want to go anywhere or do anything because of it. It sure is horrible isn't it. And I had never even heard of the condition till I got it. How are you coping?

Shirley, male or female keep pushing, you know that you are just not right. I have been suffering since April 2015. But won't stop till I get my life back. Don't wait for referral, call a urogynocologist yourself for appointment, then paperwork that satisfies insurance. Let's beat this!

Hi Lynda, Thanks for your message. I will keep pushing. You are right. I'm not right. I've been suffering since July/August 2014. The male Doc definitely got my vote. The females were like there is nothing more we can do! sad Will sort this out one way or another. Yes let's beat this! :-)

      Hi to all of you,

I have had Interstitial cystitis (urge to wee, frequency, burning, pain etc.) for the last 8 years. At the beginning it was awful but now it is well controlled with medication (Elmiron) and pain-killers (tramadol). I would urge any of you with burning and constant urinary urge to consult a UROLOGIST, preferably in a large hospital where they have more experience. GPs have no idea and many gynaes don't know what they're doing. I also have Lichen Sclerosus for info. The treatment is cortisone (dermoval cream) and it helps a lot most of the time. Good luck - don't let doctors fob you off - you know your body.
