Urgent advice needed...PLEASE!! Going up then down

Hi

Posted on here a few times. I started on sertraline around 3 weeks ago (after coming off citalopram) after 2 weeks the GP upped my dose to 50mg but I found it was giving me tummy trouble so after 3 days she said go back down so I did. The stomach problem has improved by my anxiety is worse than ever!! Now she has told me to go back up to 50mg and wants to see me on Friday.

What I want to know is....is is possible that the increased anxiety is due to coming back down from 50mg even though I only took the 50mg for 3 days?

The past 2 days have been hell!! 😭😭 my body feels like it's in constant panic/anxiety mode and I can't focus on anything, so tense, on edge constantly, shaking (feels like it's from the inside).

I need some advice please if anyone could help I would appreciate your input. I just don't know what to do with myself.

I had 2 diazepam left, I took 1 today but only lasted around an hour or so. Doc said she doesn't want to give me any more as it masks the problem but I'm really really suffering. I'm struggling to function at all!! X

    Hi Claire,

Sounds like it could be part of it but it sounds more like the anxiety getting the best of you. Happens to me all the time. I am always looking for something to blame the way I am feeling on something else.

My doctor has told me to tough out the stomach issues and reflux and that it may take 4-6weeks maybe even 8.

I am glad you are seeing your doctor on Friday. I have found Ativan to be truly helpful during the situations you are describing. Meditation and prayer have helped me immensely as well. I still have crappy days but fewer now.

Hang in there...this too shall pass.

    God Bless

Thank you for your reply. It's making me feel so poorly and I just don't know what to do anymore. I don't want to end up losing everything, my appetite is zero and iv lost 2 stone in just over 6weeks!

Iv never felt this bad before don't know how much longer I can carry on like this.

I try meditation, and breathing etc, but nothing is helping. I'm so scared I'm going to die because I feel so bad. I feel like I'm seriously losing it x

Hi Claire, going up and down with the dosage can definitely make your anxiety worse. Have you been offered any therapy by your gp such as CBT? My doctor put me on propranolol to help with the palpitations I get when I'm panicking. Don't worry about your appetite for now, as that is probably add8ng to your anxiety, just drink plenty and try things that don't take much chewing (I find that helps me if it just slides down). X

Yes, started cbt but it's on hold till the 28th while I go through the medication change as she doesn't want me to waste sessions as I was a mess.

I try and eat things that are soft like you say. I just feel like I'm existing and nothing else. Can't even look after my children 😭I'm snappy, tense, nauseas, agitated, and full of anxiety. I feel ill with it, it's making me think irrationally and that scares me. I do nothing all day because I'm to scared to move! I feel so alone and scared x

Also I take propranalol, that helps with the palpitations. I take 20mg on a morning, then 10mg around 3-4pm then another 10mg around 9-10pm x
