My name is Sean I’m 36 and I have been suffering with acid reflux for some time....

6 years ago I was told I have a hiatus hernier and minimal barrets.

I have not really changed my life style since, but I have tried most recent to eat healthy.  I’m scared to death,  I have been in extream pain over the last few months symptoms are as folllows..

Sharp stabbing pain left side of chest.

Very tender and feels as if a layer of skin had been removed from the lining of my osophagus.

My throat is sore, perfect I cough

Left side feels like it’s closing up.

My breathing is restricted I loser focus and go very faint.

My left arm starts to ach and pain all the way through.

Pain left side of my neck..

I’m struggling with life.

I’ve been on omeprasasol for ages, I am always burping and bending trying to release air from my stomach and chest. I find I need to lean over to my left to release pressure...

I am almost fainting sometimes and when out, I end up panicking and fainting my left arm my head and fingers go numb and tingly.

I have had a barium swallow and they say they couldn’t see a hiatus hernier.

They said I seem to be swallowing more than once every mouthful... of that makes sense.

I have in my letter these words....( venous plexus c5 vertebrae anterior extrinsic). Please someone tell me what this means...

I’m scared of the C word my family suffer because I suffer.....

Hi Sean, can you ask your gp to organise an endoscopy, it might give you peace of mind, all the stress and anxiety is making it all seem worse

Hello Sean I am very sorry to hear you are suffering like this. I tried to googlevenous plexus c5 vertebrae anterior extrinsic but could not find anything that made any sense to me but I am not a doctor. Are you seeing your gp? Are you seeing a gastro consultant ? They should be able to explain this and give you the diagnosis and treatment you need. When are you seeing a doctor again? Try not to lose heart and kep strong.

I been having problem with excessive burping and feeling the need to force it even on an empty stomach, burping and gurgling up food. I purchased multi-enzyme supplement from the vitamin shop and it made a huge difference!!!!!! Felt so much better. They help you digest food.  I then started to drink probiotic tea called kumbacha. Target sells it now. After two days my digestion issues gone! The drink is full of probiotics and now feel like a new person

    Hi Sean

This sounds really horrible for you.  Have you asked your GP to do cardiac chests to rule out anything heart related? (Just thinking about the pain you described down your left arm.). Also, the pain in your chest sounds similar to what I suffer with - it has been diagnosed as esophageal spasm so you could try googling this and ask your GP about this too.  I have been put on Saldinifal (which is actually viagra!) as it relaxes blood vessels or something like that and has definitely helped. Or you could ask about Amytriptyline to relax eaoohagous muscle? Just thinking of the things I’ve tried if it was something similar to that. I think the worst thing is that it’s a vicious circle isn’t it? - you worry about getting the pain and I think getting stressed and anxious makes it worse but you can’t help it.   Good luck and I hope you get some answers.

Hi Sean, sorry to hear you are in so much pain. There are loads of stuff you can take for your symptoms. Try liquorice root capsules, they  help heal the inflemation  in your esophagus, Manuka honey also helps rid h pylori, which is a gut bacteria, which they say actually causes the reflux. Check with a doctor and ask if it's safe for you to take hydrochloride acid pills, and a food enzyme. If you Google reflux etc the majority of the doctors are saying we are taking the wrong medicine for our gastric problems, we need to actually put more acid into our gut in order to burn down our food properly. I had an endoscopy last week, I was terrified, I got lightly sedated and can't remember a single thing. I hope some of this is helps. Good luck I feel your pain x
