Uric Levels

Hi All,

My doctor says that males have higher uric levels but if my Uric levels are above the recommended ranges:

Normal Uric acid levels are 2.4-6.0 mg/dL (female) and 3.4-7.0 mg/dL (male).

Should one be starting to use Allopurinol. I'm going to be going to having another blood test in a months time. Last time i took it it was 7 but I had just stopped taking Allopurino. If my upcoming new blood test is over 7 do you think, it would be advisable to start getting back on Allopurinol. Im trying to see if my diet can help me instead of going back on the med again.

I havent been having flares since ive been off it in 3 months however i still get slight arthrittic dull pain....

Thoughts?

First of all, watch the diet.

Now, they say diet is only half the problem at most, if your body wants too much uric acid then just watching your diet may not be enough.  But diet can push you over the edge.

I suggest the celery seed!  That seems to be keeping my number down just as well as allopurinol is supposed to, but with no side effects, and cheaper - and tastier!
