Urinary flow during radiation.

I'm about to finish 20 sessions of rt and have noticed my flow is quite reduced. It must somehow be caused by the treatment but is it a usual side effect and is it temporary? At least I can still pee, quite frequently, but I'm a little bit concerned.

Yes it's due to treatment and quite common. It's due to the inflammation caused by the radiation.

Leeniepie is spot on. RT aggravates the entire area and YES, it will be sore and improve in time.

I used URAL sachets, mixed with water, to alkalanise my pee which eliminated any burning or other discomfort.

    Hello john,

I had the same problem after my 40 shots of radiation. I expect like my bladder and bowel the discomfort will pass. The important things I found was to drink plenty of water ,sometimes beer, and eat a lot of fruit to keep you bowels loose while your lower region recovers from the radiation. I felt as though it had been microwaved. It worked for me and that was in 2005 and as my specialist reminded me "you're still here" he said.

    Good luck
