Urinary Retention. Help!

I have posted before and cant work out how to delete my previous post.

After being off my citalopram for a couple of months I ended up back on it (at 10mg) 7 weeks ago.

Approximately 5 weeks in i started getting urinary retention. Constant urge to urinate, even when Ive just been and feeling like I've leaked urine. I went to Urgent Care who did urine tests and basically said they were clear and they didn't know what it was.

I then worked out its probably because of my citalopram, although i didnt get this when i started on my citalopram the first time (approx 6 years ago).

My question is, has anybody else suffered from urinary retention as a side effect before? Did it go away?

Trying to be sensible and hold out contacting the GP to see if it goes away but I'm also majorly panicking about it so any advice/reassurance would be great!

    Hi.

    I have the same issue with urinary retention.

    Mine kicked in on day 10. Couldn't work out why i was battling to void.

    Found if I drank a lot of water it helped a bit.

    I also find citilopram to have a diuretic effect so at night when I take it there are multiple trips to toilet but cannot empty the bladder due to retention.

    Which is stressful.

    My doc has put me on flomax which is a game changer.

    Have no problems urinating now.

    I'm sure your doc could prescribe for you
