21/2 weejs ago Rezum. 82 cc prostate. I did not find this column before and was not prepared for the discomfort that is a living hell.
urologist had many good reviews on Google map. He performed a trance anal ultrasound guided injection of lidocaine which was a total failure. There were four treatments to the left lobe for treatment to the right lobe and two to a large median lobe. Everyone of them was miserable and I wish it was done under general anesthetic or conscious sedation. I went home with a Foley and was given one Tylenol and no instructions. I was told I could yank out the foley myself in a week after deflating the bulb. I was still getting up every one hour with either sensation to pee or pain or empty the leg bag. Tylenol did nothing for the pain and I couldn’t take ibuprofen so I was using oxycodone every night. night 3 post-op i experienced one bout of shaking chills (INFECTION!) but did not realize this was a start of urinary tract infection. I think it is possible I was infected in the doctors office and perhaps a sterilization was not proper.I had no fever throughout but night six I had drenching night sweats (INFECTION!!) with two separate T-shirts completely soaking wet. I do not have the instruction and education that this was urinary tract infection. I removed the catheter the next day and was peeing every 30 minutes to an hour all day all night. I was incredibly sleep deprived with awaking all night 1 hour since surgery. I was told the symptoms will get worse I had no fever throughout but night six I had drenching night sweats with two T-shirts completely soaking wet. I was incredibly sleep deprived. I was told the symptoms will get worse 6-8 weeks but had no idea that meant I would have pain eight out of 10 with every time to pee. DAY6 I also lost appetite (INFECTION!!!) which is considered lower G.I. symptom of either bladder infection or kidney infection. I hope that the severe pain with pain would improve in two or three days after moving Foley. It did not I was so tired I could not reason that I had infection. Finally six days after moving foley I went to the emergency department. Symptoms were terrible pain to pee frequency of 30 minutes to an hour all day all night loss of appetite shaking chills and night sweats which continued every other day. i was started on Bactrim DS white cell count 12.3 with 4 + bacteria in urine. 3 days later back to ER for a second foley i had retention and could not pee. 8 weeks of pain to pee 8/10? Rezum is real surgery. watch fir fever, nite sweat, nausea vomit, chill -even one, loss os appetite.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with Rezum. See my post of a few days ago, my experience was very positive. The lidocaine injection (into the prostate via the rectum) made the pain bearable. Just a few minutes procedure. My Urologist takes the catheter out after 5 days. The first couple after that were difficult but things got better with each passing day. Full recovery and no LUTS 6 weeks after the fact.
