Urine albumin/creatinine ratio 9.5, Hematuria - Suspect of Kidney Disease

Hello Group,

I am 38 year old, facing the below symptoms since 9 months

1. Blood pressure ranging btw 120/85 to 130/92 (currently on low blood pressure medication)

2. Protienuria initially found 24 in April 2016 and the latest test in September is 7.5 (the normal UK range is 2.5)

3. Microscopic hematuria since a a year.

4. A recent test in september is evident of Immunoglobulin A level of 4.3 (normal is 0.8 to 2.8)

5. Frequent urination around 8 to 10 times a day since a year. Prescribed oxybutynin for frequent urination, but after using i found blood pressure is elevating from 120 levels to 130 levels (not sure whether this is really oxybutynin effect)

5. No diabetes

6. No blood creatinine or nitrogen evident

Are these symptoms can be curable with medication. I have neprhologist appointment in the next 2 weeks. What questions i need to ask in that session.

Pls shed some light on my issue.

Thanks

    Hello

Your lab seems compatible with a condition called IgA nephropathy. It does not have a cure but has a good prognosis in terms of not having rapid decline of kidney function. Do you know your creatinine range in mg/dl? Please keep in mind this is not a substitute for your doctor appointment obviously smile

      Thank a lot analuisac,

What is the survival rate with this disease...do i need to use medication for long term?

      Thx

Unfortunately there is no guarantee of what course the disease will take, but most people live well just by taking medications such as ACES (blood pressure and to stop protein leakage) or immunossupressants if necessary.  You will need a biopsy to confirm IgA nephropathy. In case medication does not work it may evolve to kidney failure, but there are always dyalisis and transplant treatment, which may sound scary, but at least are safe and viable options.

      Hello Analuisac,

I had my nephrology visit this week and this time my albumin creatinine ratio is normal (2.2), and my protien levels in urine are also normal.

Specialist said "As of now no issues with the kidney as the urine and blood results are normal. But the microscopic hematuria is due to some reason minute rupture of blood vessel or something else. Anyhow, i dont say there is no problem, but as of now your kidneys are healthy and i will review you within 6 months and keep your blood pressure normal"

Can you pls let me know your view on this?
