Urine and bowel problem

Posted , 5 users are following.

I wake up in the morning with a bad urge to urinate. Once i have urinated i feel a tingling discomfort in my vagina and pain in lower back for up to hours afterwards. This pain often feels like it would be relieved if a bowel movement occured. These symptoms often also occur after sexual intercourse

Hello duggan. Sounds like a urine infection. I agree with ann, you need a urine test and probably antibiotics

Hi there. Does sound like a urine infection or as you state you have discomfort after intercourse could be vaginal dryness (most menopausal women suffer with this).  However, as the other ladies have advised do go to your doctor regardless of your age and have your urine tested. If you have a UTI you will be given antibiotics however they are most times a quick fix. Should you find the antibiotics do not clear your infection should there be one, asked to be referred to a Consultant Urologist as we women are complicated down below. If your urine is cloudy and has a nasty smell then there is a urine infection. Do look after yourself and mostly do not ignore these symptoms! In the interim drink lots and lots of plain water to flush any possible infection out - If you can 2litres daily! Good luck! Wishing you better.

Hi there, yes defo urine inection - I have just got over a really nasty one.

I had a lot of blood in urine also which scared me to death and I thought the worst.

I had cystoscopy and a couplle of days later a CT scan.  They were clear.

I was given 3 days anti bios which cleared the symptoms immediately.

Water is the way as already said, I had 6 glasses each day.  Also have a glass or cranberry juice every day - it kills any bacteria that tries to stick to your bladder.  A little bicarb in a glass of water several times a day neutralises your water so its less acidic.  And for the tingling down there and also again to kill off bacteria is bio plain yoghurt - that is sooo soothing as well.  But eat it every day too.

These are also things you should make a routine habit off daily (apart from yoghurt down there) just eat it.  Once you get a UTI you tend to get repeats but these measures can keep it from returning.

Avoid green tea, orange juice, chocolate and hot chocolate, caffeine drinks, strong alcohol whilst you have got it.

    Good luck x
