Urine flow and frequency after TURP

Posted , 5 users are following.

Had a TURP a month ago, for first two weeks, urine flow was very strong (like being a kid again!) The flow has reduced in force considerably since, my urination frequency has gone up as well and I'm backwards and forwards having a wee all the time. I understand that this could be part and parcel of the healing process, if anyone has had a similar experience and has any words of wisdom on this, please do comment. Thanks.

I had a TURP 3 weeks ago (the second after a 'mini' TURP 2 years previously). Unfortunately flow and frequency are currently worse than pre-op; in fact after I was discharged I went into complete retention 3 hours later and had to rush back to have a catheter re-inserted for 5 days. Do you think things will improve from here or is this latest TURP the failure it appears to be?

Sorry to hear about your issues. I had a TURP in mid June and it took at least 8 weeks until I felt like I was at 100%. Recovery was much longer and more difficult than I had expected with pain, bleeding and discharge all significant until week 5. I never felt "restricted" in my flow. Maybe you should message your urologist.

FWIW, I'm 100% satisfied with the results despite the long healing time. Very glad I got it done - huge increase in QoL.
