Google "Florida Interventional Specialist Tampa" or "Intervenrional radiologists for prostate Duke Medical" or "PAE Duke interventional radiology prostate". Both the Florida and Duke NC group give you the option of free research PAE or pay as a non research PAE patient. Keep us posted if you proceed with PAE treatment.

      Hi Bill,

After your post, I started my research about what exactly PAE is. I confess PAE scares me a little before, but it seems a good solution for long term. I don't have any answer yet, from two references you kindly give me. Do you know a research Dr. name there, to try to contact directly. Thanks in any case. Vic

Vic,  I do not recall their names but I know they are still doing the procedure. After committing to the UL I no longer kept that information but you should be able to locate them easily by use of Google.  Not to scare you off from PAE but points to consider, PAE kills prostate tissue leaving scar tissue and no one knows what the long term effects of PAE might be. In other words, there is no information at this point that the scarring of the prostate might lead to increased risk of prostate cancer or other unforeseen problems. When I was undergoing cystoscope I saw my own prostate and it appeared very pink and healthy. My prostate would look very shrunken and scarred after PAE and frankly I did not like to think about killing off healthy tissue even it was otherwise causing me problems and that was a major consideration in choosing UroLift. That said at some point in the distant future UroLift is no longer effective for me I definitely would choose PAE if there were no indications of PAE increasing risk of prostate cancer.

      Hi Vic,

Just a clarification. I had a PAE done by Dr. Isaacson last December. At that time he was at UNC in Chapel Hill, NC. Has he moved? I would hate to see you show up at the wrong place, and I would like to keep track of him because one could never find a better doctor to work with.

      Thanks,

      Neal
