Not a direct answer to your question Lew. Just an observation that it seems like lately there are more negative posts regarding urolift and more positive posts regarding bipolar turp.

When you say you don't see any improvement, what is the criteria that you are using to judge improvement? Are you measuring your voids (if so, hopefully you did this pre-urolift as well)? Did you have your PVR measured and it showed no reduction post-urolift? What about maximum flowrate improvements?

How many times are you getting up at night (and do you measure how much is voided during your nighttime urinations)?

    Lew,

What was the size of your prostate and did you have an obstructing enlarged median lobe ? Where did you have the Uroift done ? Is it possible you have a UTI ? There have been some guys on this site who thought their Urolift failed but found they had a UTI.

Another thing that can make a procedure seem like it failed is a stretched bladder. How long did you have BPH, and how much urine were you retaining before the procedure ? A Urodynamics test can access the condition of your bladder.

I'm not saying you have any of these conditions just suggesting things to look into.

It might take a little more time. Reading more "real reviews" it seems like it doesn't work more often than it does. I think it was a nice concept and might have worked well on the control group but not so much on an expanded population.

      BenThere,

On a forum like this there are more people who have had had failed procedures than in the general public, because those with failed procedures are looking for reasons why, and still looking for a cure. Many of those whose procedures worked don't look back they go on and enjoy life.

I think that is true, but I was also getting a lot of ads for Urolift on my facebook and almost all of the comments were negative. I don't think they are using that platform anymore, they got tired of posting the same response.

The problem I guess is that you have biased sources anyway you look at it. The urolift guys are not going to post negative reviews nor are the urologists that are making 15K for a 15 minute procedure.

    Hey Lew

Before you had it done did you have all the test to make sure the prostate was the problem. It also may take longer for you to heal. Most of the time it take 4 weeks some men longer. How many clips did they put in. You may need more. Did you have a median lobe.

    Take care. Ken

      Hi Ken.

I did not have a median lobe, the doc did not do many tests, he said that I had a choice of urolift or a button turp. He put 5 clips in. It seems that I need to wait longer.

      Thanks, Lew

If you did not have a median lobe you should be okay. With 5 clips. I only had 4 2 on each side. It may just take you a little longer to heal

      Good luck......Ken

You posted on or about 4/18 about your 3/5 Urolift. That's over 6 weeks. I don't know what your doctor told you about symptom improvement but that seems like a long time to not experience anything. I had a TURP in February and saw significant improvement within 2 weeks and continued improvement (although at a much slower rate) up to 4-5 weeks. I am now almost 9 weeks post-op and my pre-op voiding issues are greatly reduced. I am very happy with the results. I made a couple detailed posts (search on "my TURP") that will provide more information, maybe more than you want!
