Urolift implants cause bleeding after years and require operations to try to find and remove

Beware.

I had a Urolift procedure 7 years ago for BPH (and another some months later to add another clip). Although of some help, I decided to have an Aquablation operation near 4 years ago. I was repeatedly assured that the presence of Urolift clips would be no problem. Indeed, it was suggested that they may be flushed out. No way!

Two months ago, I started peeing blood. It turns out that the Urolift implants were still all present, and some were incrusted and any movement would cause bleeding. I have had to pay for an operation where the surgeon used both laser and a plasma loop to try to remove some of them that were visible. The implant string could not be cut by laser.

Now, I still have implants in me. The surgeon (who is the UK lead!) says they can only be dealt with if they are ‘visible’. He was the one who repeatedly assured me there would be no problem, and was totally surprised by my condition.

This Urolift is clearly dangerous and the literature saying that it does not prevent any further treatment is wrong. I suspect that my prostate changing size particularly after aquablation, meant that the implant still grab tissue and deform it in unpredictable ways.
