UROLIFT RECOVERY QUESTION

Posted , 3 users are following.

With the recommendation of my Urologists I had the urolift procedure done about 5 weeks ago. I had to have a catheter for almost a week due to not being able to urinate after the procedure. I am on week 5 and I have noticed I am running to the bathroom constantly and it never really feel like my bladder empties completely. I called the Dr office and talked to the PA and she prescribed a 14 day supply of Doxycycline. (I am thinking they think I might have a bladder infection?) I read that the symptoms sometimes get worse before they get better and usually last 2-4 weeks. Does anyone have experience with long recovery times? Am I overthinking this or does this mean the procedure was unsuccessful?

    Hey John

Can I ask you a question. Did you have the catheter put in after the procedure at the hospital by your doctor.

No, I wish I did that. I went to the emergency room later that night. I was unable to pass urine so they put in a Foley and about a week later had my dr office remove the catheter.

      Thank you John

I thought so. Before i had mine done 7 years ago On this site I saw a lot of men having a problem. After the procedure they were able to pee but by night the prostate was swollen from the procedure. When you go to the hospital you end up having it in for a week. That is why you ending up with a infection.

I talked to my doctor and asked for a catheter. I would rather have one put in when I'm out not when I'm awake.

I only had it for a couple of day's ( 1pm Monday to Wednesday at 8:30 am ).

Boy when they fill the catheter up I shot it out all over the office. For 2 days I was going every hour or so It did burn. But I was good in 10 days No medication and no side effects.

It is over 7 years and I'm still open. I had 4 clips put in.

Take care and relax Give it time.....Ken

Thanks Ken. I just wanted to make sure I wasnt needing to hit the panic button after feeling worse after 5 weeks. In reading more in the forum it looks like some men take months to recover sometimes... John

Yes you read right funny you did not read some of the others that it can take up to a year to see improvement and that is with medication and doing CIC.

If you want to see if you can get your ejaculation back you will have to see a doctor. There is a way to unblock it. You may have to see a few because they believe you do not need it if you are not having kids. This is not there right. It is years.
