Urticaria 2 years

Hey everyone, my heart goes out to all you sufferers of this intolerable condition. Mine started a little over two years ago, and with numerous trips to the doctors, perscriptions for various antihistimines plus a hospital visit lm no further forward. Ive been informed that the next step would be steriods, something l would rather not have. I am just so sorry for you all, especially long term sufferers, how you can live with this condition for so long and remain sane lve no idea! Am so glad l found this site to know that lm not alone with this complaint. I also suffer badly from acid reflux, and the tablets they gave me to control the acid were prescribed specifically to work in conjunction with my antihistimines, the acid reflux tablets dont work completely, but to have a stronger dose would leave me in a worse state with my urticaria. Catch 22!

Thinking of you all and hoping that one day someone will come up with a cure for you all.

[b:34e282f187]TAKE YOURSELF ALONG TO A PRACTITIONER OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE.

I have been along the same route as you and know that it works. I know longer have any spots and after only 8 treatments.

A mixture of acupuncture, acupressure, cupping and herbs were used.

I still take anti-histamines at the moment because they NOW work after 2 years of eating them like sweaties. Over the next few weeks I hope to be free of them for good. I know this sounds a bit radical but I can say it works, conventional medicine only fills you with pollutants with only limited success. I am sure you know much of this already? [/b:34e282f187]

Hi I am trying to get to grips with how vague everyone seems to be with chronic urticara. I have been suffering with this for 15 months now and am no clearer to why it has happened. I pin pointed it started when I went in to visit my dad in hospital and used the gel on my hands on the way in. My hands started to itch and I couldnt help scratching my right palm and then I noticed in the same day a small rash travelling up my right arm. Within a few days it had travelled all over my body. I saw my GP and after several visits and blood tests they diagnosed it as chronic urticara. I was perscribed antihistamines which I later discovered made the condition extremely worse. The only thing which calmed it down was steroids but I can only use in an emergency as they suggested not a good idea to use steroids on a regular basis. 15 months on I have worked out for myself that noone really knows why it happens and noone really wants to! I feel I am a burden to people because it is frustrating, just as you think there is a pattern it changes. They say you are allergic to this and this etc but why now! And why have I suddenly become reactive to antihistamines as I used them a few days before and before that and never had a reaction. I dont like it when they have no answers surely everything happens for a reason. I find now when I suffer in silence every day especially in the mornings when I get up from a guaranteed night of restlessness of large swollen red areas and constant scratching that perhaps I may have to put up with it for the rest of my life! What joy to look forward to! I know I sound rather moany about my situation and that many people are a lot worse off than me but doesnt help the constant pain or lumps or redness and sleepness nights getting me down. If only someone could come up with the specific trigger as so many people seem to suffer with it. Please if anyone else out there can shed any light on this annoying condition then please share anything they think works best. Obviously most people use antihistamines but I cant.....

There seems to be alot of people out there that seems to be suffering in silence because localling I have not bumped into anyone with the same condition to even swap notes with. Sorry to go on but answers is all I crave for. Has anyone found out why in some cases like mine I have put on 2-3 stone in 15 months and cannot shift it?

    Hi

I have suffered with Chronic Urticaria for nearly 3 years. I was finally diagnosed with this around 2 years ago. I know exactly how you feel I cannot remember the last time I had a full nights sleep, getting up at 2/3 in the morning for a couple hours at a time, which leaves me tired and down in the dumps. I have been on anti histimenes, don't work anymore., steriod cream which has wrecked my skin, and now steriods and even antibiotics as I have infected my skin where I have been scratching so much. I am now trying a dairy free diet (having tried wheat free which did not work). have seen 4 dermitoligists (and another booked for May), but still no answers!!

It is something you need alot of support for from those around you and I am just lucky that my partner is so very supportive. Work is a nightmare as I have so much time off as some days I cannot stand up as my skin is so painful, I have felt quite depressed at times.

Has anyone heard that the sunlight is good for the condition, I have been told this and just waiting for the summer to see if it helps? Also Iam told red fruits are not good ie tomatoes, strawberries, rasberries...?

If anyone from the Southampton area wants to start a support group I am up for it as I do not know of anyone that has it but believe a group would help for ideas, and who knows we may be able to give eachother some pointers....[/quote]
