I have just returned from the Hospital, had water retention which in turn effects kidney function. Hosp inserted catheter to relieve water retention. The Uro suggests TURP, which really makes me nervious. Have thought about Tamaxolin. Does anyone have expeience of such a situation in the UK? My postrate is 30-35mm.

I have a post void retention of about 350-450 ml and have been offered TURP but am not keen to do that, I've been using Tamsulosin off and on for two years and find it makes me feel lethargic and tired I have better flow and less retention on it and would be happy if i were retired but still working a physical job and busy life at 61 Tamsulosin makes life harder than it already is.I am trying out a more healthier diet something like a mild form of the keto diet cutting down carbs and sugar and cheese while increasing whole foods and having some success , peeing better than not on Tamsulosin but not as good as being on it so far but only been doing this for two weeks. I have a very small prostate 13cc and was told by the urologists that TURP would only have a 50/50 chance of achieving anything because my problem is more to do with a stretched bladder.

    Also I selfcath every night.
