using catheter valve to hold urine

Posted , 3 users are following.

I have an enlarged prostate and I had to have a catheter installed. It does not seem right to wear shorts. But I want to exercise outdoors.

I have thought of using a catheter valve so that I can disconnect the urine bag. The urine would stay in my bladder for an hour or so while I exercise. Then I could use the valve to "pee" in a restroom.

What are your thoughts about this?

Thankfully I've never needed a catheter but if I ever do I thought the valve on the catheter would be the preferred method for me. I'm very interested to hear about any actual experiences using the valve.

It's definitely worth getting a tap! So much easier. OK, having a night bag means not having to get up to pee in the night, but I found myself always checking the bag to see how full it is. Plus I sleep on my side, first one, then the other. I've used both at the gym, but a tap allows you to do more exercises. Just make sure you have a way of anchoring the tap if you're wearing shorts.
