Using metropolol intermittently

Posted , 3 users are following.

I am mostly in good rhythm now with good BP reading and feel well but occasionally my heart starts racing so I take 25 mg or a bit more of metropolol rather than take it all the time as prescribed (25 mg twice a day) Does anyone see a problem with this approach? it works well and slows the rate down.  I have had 3 ablations and 10 cardioversions in the past.

yes, its a big problem, you will avoid going to hospital if you take the daily dose. svt tends to get worse as you get older which means svt attacks will come more often. I've had svt 18 years, I had no treatment for 17 years then last year it deteriorated my attacks went from 40mins to 10 hour episodes, had 6 adenosine injections in 2 months so I was advised to take a daily treatment. been taking metoprolol 25m twice daily the last 3 months and it has prevented my svt's and has stopped my svt's when i use it as a pill in the pocket and stopped me going to the hospital. its given me my life back!
