If you've been free of pain, fevers, chills it's unlikely to still be diverticulitis. It's more likely residual side effects from the antibiotics, or that your insides have not yet settled down. This disease does knock the stuffing out of them (literally - pardon the pun!!). Did you go straight back onto your usual diet or did you overload on fibre? Either could have triggered the runs. Did you have a wheat/gluten intolerance before? If not, it's unlikely to be that. Suggest for the time being you stick to a bland low fibre diet until things settle down, then slowly reintroduce soluble fibre, but keep a diary of what you eat. It should help you identify problem foods.

Thanku so much. I have been cutting out wheat totally out for 3 months as I found it helped my bad constipation a lot. But started to have it every day lately including when I was on antibiotics. I was on a liquid diet last week for 4 days then felt my poo was getting back to normal yesterday but today I'm awful! Am burning up now but Havant got the diver pain anymore. Just cramps. I have fibromyalgia which makes things worse. Do u think I cud take dirolyte?

Unfortunately the runs and cramps are a common symptom of an infection. During a couple of my flares I was literally rolling on the ground crying with the pain. The nurse at my practice was both a mother and had DD and said the swamping cramping pains were like childbirth, but actually worse. (I'm childless). I now take Mebeverine but only if I suspect the cramping pains are starting. That's also when I go back on fluids only for a few days. It can take weeks to get over an attack - the drugs are very strong and it takes time after the course is finished for "normal service" to resume!! In my case it was almost a year before the pain subsided to the occasional niggle as I had 3 attacks in quick succession after having been free for over 2 years. I'd only had 3 attacks in 14 years prior to that. That's when I joined the Forum, which really helped me.
