Uterine Fibroids, Belly Growth and Weight Gain

I'm so upset and worried. I have NO INSURANCE and started having extreme belly pressure & bloating approx. 8 months ago. I get my period still regularly.. Almost to the day. A few months back I was a little late and convinced I was pregnant. I took a home digital pregnancy test that came up positive! I am 40 years old, at that time. Now just turned 41 on March 1st 2018. Anyways, my man & I go to the hospital the test and sonogram there came back as NO pregnancy but showing uterine fibroid or fibroids (?) my scan measures one fibroid.

I go again.. & same diagnosis a couple months later through sonogram.. I had terrible stomach pain and lower right back pain.. Which I still have! The urge to relief myself as soon as any pressure whatsoever!! Peeing, pooping.. Whatever! I can't stand the extra pressure & bloating. This is NOT ME.

I am so scared because I feel my body changing.. See my belly growing! I can hold the damn thing like when I was pregnant with my children.. It's harder to shave my area.. Due to belly swelling.. This is ridiculous! Being I'm NOT PREGNANT. I feel embarrassed & bad about myself.. I am a'Jeans' type girl and always have been.. Now I have to wear streachy pants/ leggings.. Because jeans hurt my belly and I am sizes bigger because of my GUT! it's wearing on my self esteem hugely! Like I said, this started being noticeable to me approximately September 2017.. My weight is going up & up.. Belly ridiculous at this point (for me) my DIET IS THE SAME OR LESS! Being completely honest with myself & everyone! I eat once a day usually. My activity has been less but thats been the case since after finding out about the fibroid..due to our roomate & living situation... I was about 140 lbs max.. And now am 160lbs at this moment! Mostly ALL BELLY! I don't know what to do!! I'm scared & alone (feeling) i hate this so much! Is there any help for people like me, without insurance?? The hospital didn't tell me much of anything I could understand except made me aware of fibroid(s) & strongly suggested follow up with my GYN. But my gyn did not care because I am no longer insured! Lovely right. And I went to him insured (when insured) regularly. I just had a pap/ well womans 2 years ago. Before I lost insurance.

Any help, knowledge about this IS VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Thank you,

Christie

Hi. I completely understand about the belly size and bloating, looking pregnant. I'm waiting/hoping for mine to shrink as I near menopause. I'm 58. But you are too young to be waiting for that to happen.

Do you know the size of your fibroid? Do you still want to have children?

You could google natural ways to shrink fibroids. Google foods to avoid with fibroids.  There is lots of info, not sure if any of it works. It seems self help is your only option in the short term. Can you get insurance again in the future?

I would try and lose some of the weight gained, eat salads and vegetables, more often than once a day, drink lots of water and try to be more active. Walking daily. Cut down on alcohol.  I'm not saying this will work but suggesting it's worth a try and you'll feel better for doing something. It's not easy I know.

    Hope this helps a little.

Just a thought.... you could look for a study into fibroids that need volunteers. Maybe someone else will know of such a thing.

I had considered this option at one time and I know there is a website that will show the clinical trials that are going on internationally.  I tried to find the website, I think this might be it... https://clinicaltrials.gov/

So sorry to hear about your health issues. I have painful fibroids as well. I have opted to get a partial hysterectomy which I think is the best option for me at this point in my life. Almost a year ago I discovered that there are two things that really help my fibroid symptoms. The fist one is putting a magnesium spray on your skin. This reduced the length of my period from 7 days to 4-5 days. As well as I had far less pain and no longer felt bloated. You do have to use it every day, but the good news is it’s not expensive. The brand I use is Life Flo Pure Magnesium Oil and you can get it for about $10 and it will last you months. I use about 10 sprays a day and spray it on my belly. The second thing that will help is eating lots of foods with Pectin. This will help control your hormones levels. I eat a lot of apples and beans. This won’t cure your problem if your fibroids are large, but it will help control the symptoms until you can get some help. Best of luck to you.

Have you tired appying for a gold card ( harris health systems)

I don't know if it's only in houston. but It's for people with low or no income. Thanks to the cold card i was able to get a open myomectomy🙌🏾🙏🏾. But i also have another insurance called community health choice. why don't you try appying to both?

I feel your pain! My belly is huge. I suggest applying for State health insurance ahcccs. Or find a job that has benefits. You need to be covered. Good luck to you!
