I had an UTI about 2 months ago. The worse I'd ever had. About 2 days in to taking antibiotics, I, too, started bleeding. Scared the bajeezus out of me!! I had to wear protection for a few days. I am 54 going through perimenopause and had not spotted etc... in 6 months. I called the clinic and was told one can bleed from an UTI and to give the antibiotics a few more days to "kick in." Sure enough, in about 3 days, no more bleeding. With an UTI, your back can hurt. Try getting on a heating pad and see if you can take Advil/ Ibuprofin with your antibiotic. That will help ease the pain. Drink plenty of water, cranberry juice, and it wouldn't hurt to take a cranberry supplement daily. If you are still bleeding and you have only one or two antibiotics left, you may want to call your dr.'s nurse just to err on the side of caution. I sure hope this helps to make you not worry?. I really understand how seeing blood when you're not supposed to can make you panic.

Blood in my urine is my first sign of a UTI, quickly followed by back pain and low center abdominal pain (centered over my bladder - feels just like a period cramp). My show of blood is bright red and shows on my toilet tissue, also on my pantiliner. The last UTI I had, about six months ago, my urine sample was nearly pure blood.
It's *very* normal to show blood during a UTI, even after starting antibiotics. The UTI I spoke of above was significant enough that I was seven days into a 10 day cycle of Bactrim before the blood went away.
